Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. I beg to continue. It is true that over the years, the Prisons Department has been seconding officers to provide protective security to VIPs and State officers, although this has not been a core mandate of the department. However, following the formulation of the Government policy on provision of protective security to VIPs and other State officers which came into effect on 1st July, 2013, the Prisons Department is not among the departments from which officers providing VIP protection are to be drawn. The provision of VIP security is the core mandate of the National ...

Mr. Speaker, Sir, I believe the Administration Police officers are part of the National Police Service in this country. So, if it is a concern by an individual Senator, then we can be able to address it. But, basically, the policy of the Government is that those who are supposed to provide VIP security services are officers of the National Police Service and it is very clear from the Statement.
