  • 15 Oct 2013 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, sorry I did not get what Sen. (Prof.) Anyang- Nyong’o was asking for because I was talking to the Clerk-at-the-Table. Unfortunately, the Chair is not in today because of Eid-ul-Hajj. But I will make sure that by Thursday, we will have what he is asking for. view
  • 15 Oct 2013 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, this is a weighty issue that requires some time for investigations to be done. I would request Sen. Sang and Sen. (Prof.) Anyang’-Nyong’o give us until Thursday next week to be able to provide that Statement. view
  • 8 Oct 2013 in Senate: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I would like to take this opportunity to second this Motion. First and foremost, this Motion is important to some of us who are from northern Kenya. If we do not rescue this situation, we will lose Kenyans to foreign countries. A research has been done and it is possible for these families to be vetted and we can verify whether they are Kenyans or not. We have the vetting structures in place in this country. The Government should take time to vet these families and ensure that they are issued with identity cards. The provisions ... view
  • 1 Oct 2013 in Senate: Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, being the last person, I am sure I have very few points to add and I believe--- view
  • 1 Oct 2013 in Senate: Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, the first point I want to make is that if we really want to think about development, then roads are very critical. At this level of development in our country, we really need to have roads in place. Where I come from, the issue of insecurity is of great concern. If there are no roads, it is normally hard to track the attackers and it is also hard to access those who have been attacked in those areas. So, it is important for us to have these services transferred to the county governments so as to ... view
  • 24 Sep 2013 in Senate: Madam Temporary Speaker, I want to pass my message of condolences to Kenyans who have lost their dear ones. Those who are hospitalized I wish you a quick recovery. Finally, I would like to say that Kenyans forget very fast. If you go The electronic version of the Senate Hansard Report is for information purposesonly. • 24 Sep 2013 in Senate: to all the malls in this country, they are either closed or the security is very tight. But after the dust settles, it will be business as usual. I think we should tighten our security and be on alert at all times. Thank you. view
  • 18 Sep 2013 in Senate: Thank you, Madam Temporary Speaker. I wish to support this Motion and I believe it is really important for some of us who come from the areas where police reservists are supplementing the police work. They are really doing a good job. First, Madam Temporary Speaker, the way the police reservists are actually appointed is very wrong because these people are just handpicked by Government security; either the District Commissioner or maybe by the influence of politicians who are on the right side. This is very wrong because we really need people who are qualified to do the job that ... view
  • 24 Jul 2013 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, for giving me this opportunity. Secondly, I would like to congratulate Sen. Lesuuda; this is a very important Motion. I think it is important that we should not take it lightly. The point that I really want to raise in support of this particular Motion is that, it looks like we are really diluting it. • 24 Jul 2013 in Senate: I am sorry, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. We need to look at the infrastructure in those areas because they are in a really pathetic condition. Coming from pastoral areas, I know that livestock are owned by men; women and youth do not own livestock. We are just managing those livestock for men because culturally, livestock are owned by the men. view
