  • 18 Oct 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. Let me also air my views concerning this Report and congratulate the Committee for the good work done. The people on the ground, as we have all agreed, truly appreciate the NG- CDF because it has made a very big impact on the ground. This fund benefits the people directly, especially the bursary funds. Children and students who would not have gone to school have now done so and the people on the ground are very happy. We have already talked about late disbursement of funds due to delays. Some students are sent home ... view
  • 18 Oct 2018 in National Assembly: in public schools has really improved and the schools look very good. The chiefs’ offices look very good. This is due to the disbursement of the NG-CDF funds. There were some projects which had been started before the NG-CDF was restricted to only security and education, and have stalled. In my case, there is a water project in Masinga Dam, which was initiated but it stalled because the water function was devolved to the county government. That project is still pending. There are also other projects like dispensaries. I request the NG-CDF Board to look into those matters and check ... view
  • 16 Oct 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Chairman. I start by supporting the amendment, but I have just one question on the constitution of the board of trustees. I can see the last sentence includes the CEO who should be appointed as the secretary, but if I count the number of members of the board of trustees, it comes to 10 instead of nine. There are supposed to be a maximum of nine members of boards of trustees. Thank you. view

  • 22 Aug 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for giving me this opportunity to support this important Motion. I also congratulate Hon. • 22 Aug 2018 in National Assembly: have just been married and then they are supposed to really enjoy their marriage. They are very excited about marriage and then they are exposed to this embarrassing condition. You can imagine how such a girl would feel or even someone who is not married and then they have this condition and they cannot even disclose. They are embarrassed to even talk about it. They are not confident enough to even share it with anyone because most of the time it affects mostly girls who are not even educated. Therefore, they are really ashamed about it and they do not ... view
  • 16 Aug 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for giving me this opportunity to contribute to this Motion. I thank the Mover who is the able Chair of the KEWOPA, together with the one who has seconded the Report, for the work well done. When you look at our Parliament, Kenya is ranked very lowly in women representation in Parliament in East Africa. The latest statistics show that Kenya is position six with 22 per cent of women in the National Assembly and 31 per cent in the Senate. Rwanda is leading in the pack with 61 per cent followed by Tanzania ... view
  • 16 Aug 2018 in National Assembly: centres, free maternal health and the 30 per cent procurement opportunities for youth, women and people with disabilities. If these initiatives are implemented, then we could be somewhere. You will agree with me that the girl-child, especially in rural areas, sometimes is overworked yet expected to compete with the boy-child. The girl-child is supposed to fetch water and cook for the whole family even when she has a brother in the same class. The brother is left to study, but the girl is left in the kitchen. This disadvantages the girl-child who sits for the same exam with the boy-child. ... view
  • 16 Aug 2018 in National Assembly: women being empowered, let us also include the boy-child and integrate all the sexes, so that we do not improve one side and the other part is left behind. I have said that the boy-child is endangered, but this is not shown by the statistics. view
