  • 19 Oct 2016 in National Assembly: Therefore, because we have many cases of assault all over the country, the public hospitals in Kenya should make an effort of establishing desks whereby victims of crime are attended to. Such a desk should never be manned by inefficient persons at any given time. If the medical examination is not done, say in a case of rape, within a specific time, it may end up being difficult to prove. This actually amounts to injustice to women and yet women of this country must be protected. They must be given justice because they deserve it. In the first place, I ... view
  • 19 Oct 2016 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker for giving me this opportunity to support the list of nominees. view
  • 19 Oct 2016 in National Assembly: Hon. Deputy Speaker, protect me from the Chair of the Committee and Hon. Waweru. As I stand to debate this Motion, I would like to make reference to the comments from the two previous speakers. One of them is Hon. Makali Mulu, a person I respect so much in terms of academics and legislation. I do not see what is so unique about this nominee, Nelius Kariuki. When I look at the Report of the Committee, which I am using to make my contributions, I have noticed that she is very clear on what she wants and what she will ... view
  • 19 Oct 2016 in National Assembly: opportunity and who have not been lucky like we are, to work in big organisations. I am sure if those people who work in Muthaiga Golf Club were given an opportunity to work with any other big organisation like Safaricom, they would have done so. Hon. Kaluma was misleading Kenyans when he said that working for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) does not qualify one to work for Kenyans. I do not know what his motive was. This is the kind of thinking that Kenya does not require. As I support this Report, the only thing I would like to ... view
  • 19 Oct 2016 in National Assembly: from further exploitation. Although the interest rates have been capped at 14 per cent, I hope, they are going to be on the lookout so that rogue banking institutions do not introduce other fees that will make us move to 20 per cent interest rate again, hence suffocating wananchi who will not be able to service loans again. Hon. Deputy Speaker, with those few remarks, I would like to support this Report and support all the five nominees to the Board of Directors of CBK. I thank you. view
  • 12 Oct 2016 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. I had pressed the intervention button to make a request based on my earlier request for a Statement last year. Sometime last year, I requested a Statement from the Cabinet Secretary (CS) for the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries in connection with coffee which was sold through the Kenya Planters Cooperative Union (KPCU) by a farmers’ co-operative society in my constituency. The society is called Kiarithaini Coffee Farmers Society. They sold coffee worth Kshs14 million in 2008 through the KPCU. As we speak, the farmers have not received their money and yet, it is almost ... view
  • 12 Oct 2016 in National Assembly: The CS, the Principal Secretary (PS) and the Chairman of the Departmental Committee on Agriculture, Livestock and Co-operatives were there. They gave an undertaking to give a position within 30 days. That was in March. Six months down the line, I have not received any undertaking from them and the farmers continue to suffer. What they sold has not been paid for. Children are at home because of lack of school fees. view
  • 12 Oct 2016 in National Assembly: It was an undertaking. The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposesonly. A certified version of this Report can be obtained from the Hansard Editor. view
  • 12 Oct 2016 in National Assembly: Okay, Hon. Speaker. view
  • 12 Oct 2016 in National Assembly: Yes he did. He endeavoured to give a position within 30 days from the day of that meeting, which was around March this year. view
