  • 10 Mar 2016 in National Assembly: The Government’s effort to avail cheap money to the youth and women has not been successful. The way forward is for this House to pass this Bill in order to make credit accessible to our people. The main role of the Government is to create an enabling environment for its citizens to work, provide security for businesses and not to give handouts. This is one way this Government can make an impact and leave a legacy. If we pass this Bill, all Kenyans will enjoy the benefits of accessing cheap credit. The other day, we saw the CBK publishing the ... view
  • 17 Dec 2015 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker for giving me this opportunity to join my colleagues in supporting the Motion of approval of the appointment of the PSs for State Department for Environment and Natural resources, Mr. Charles Sunkuli and Dr. Margaret Mwakima. view
  • 17 Dec 2015 in National Assembly: Let me state for the purpose of the record that I am not in support of Mr. Sunkuli because he is my tribesman. I support him as a Kenyan with credentials that have passed through the Departmental Committee on Environment and Natural Resources. I personally know Mr. Sunkuli. He is a man of integrity. As the Departmental Committee on Environment and Natural Resources has stated, his track record speaks for itself. He has been able to manage resources well as the Managing Director for Ewaso Nyiro South River Water Basin Services. His pending bills are the minimum in that docket. ... view
  • 17 Dec 2015 in National Assembly: My advice to the two nominees is for them to deliver services to Kenyans and to leave good track records. This is a time when civil servants have been marred with allegations of corruption. The two are getting in Government with clean track records and they have an opportunity to leave the service with the same. So, I stand to support the appointment of the two. view

  • 1 Dec 2015 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker, for giving me the opportunity to add my voice to that of my colleagues in support of the mediated version of the County Governments (Amendment) Bill. We need very strong laws to protect the history of our country. County headquarters form part of the history of this country, which needs to be protected for future generations. There are certain countries with very strong laws to the effect that you cannot even decide to change the design of a historic structure. To renovate a certain structure, you need approvals from very high levels. If you cannot change ... view
  • 1 Dec 2015 in National Assembly: unfortunate event that does not need to be repeated in this country. As much as security drills are important, we do not want to see such drills killing our own people. I support this Bill. view
  • 21 Oct 2015 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker for giving me this opportunity to add to the voices of my colleagues in supporting the National Drought Management Authority Bill. Drought is as a result of lack of proper planning. We know that the poverty levels in this country are on the rise every year. There is ravaging drought that is persistently impoverishing our people each year. Countries like Egypt and Israel are semi- deserts, and yet they export their produce to this country. Communities that depend on livestock, for example, the Maasai lose hundreds of livestock worth hundreds of millions of shillings ... view
  • 6 Aug 2015 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker for giving me this opportunity to add my voice to this very important petition. Due to the important role that these village elders play, and since as Members of Parliament we are treated as individuals in our constituencies, it is important that we all contribute to this petition if time allows us. The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposesonly. A certified version of this Report can be obtained from the Hansard Editor. view
  • 6 Aug 2015 in National Assembly: These village elders play a very important role as all my colleagues have acknowledged. It would be unfair for us not to support them by, at least, remunerating them. Leadership is a calling and the least that we can do, as Members of this House and leaders, is to compensate them. We know we cannot really fully compensate them for the time they give to the community. view
