(a) I am aware that there were run-off floods from River Yala during the recent rains which have affected 60 households. Mr. Rwenje cannot be compensated for the following reasons: One, by the time he retired, he had passed the mandatory retirement age of 55 years. He was born in 1927 and retired in 1983. Two, in accordance with Regulation 6 of the Pension Act, he is not eligible for compassionate gratuity or pension by virtue of him having been employed as a subordinate staff. On the same compound, there is another building that is currently in use. We feel that because this other building is condemned, no money should go to it. It should be brought down so that we put up another building. view

Some of that money could go towards renovating buildings that might not be in very good shape at the moment. view
