  • 11 Sep 2019 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I would like to inform the Senate Majority Leader that I already did what he is asking me to do 30 minutes ago. Mr. Speaker, Sir, at around 4.00 p.m., you will see the Senator for Kitui County leave the Chamber. I will lead MPs from Kitui County to the offices of the Cabinet Secretary for Interior and Coordination of National Government to make demands about security in Kitui County. I thank you. view

  • 11 Sep 2019 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, we have a duty to this country and to our counties. Let us face the truth and deal with it head on. If we messed up on this matter, let us say so. Let every Senator be given an opportunity to express themselves on this matter. It cannot be that one or two Senators are directing the Speaker on whether or not to vote. There are Senators here who also want to express themselves on this Bill. view
  • 10 Sep 2019 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. The Senate Majority Leader was almost editing me out. From the onset, I want to say that I support that we defer debate on this matter. Initially, I was convinced that we needed to debate this matter. However, listening to the Mover; the Senate Majority Leader, he is so dispassionate about this Bill that he is almost anticipating a defeat. I am reminded that this House debated and passed a Bill by Sen. Mutula Kilonzo Jnr. on review of county boundaries. There is a Bill that was then passed in the last Parliament on constituencies ... view
  • 8 Aug 2019 in Senate: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I join Sen. Dullo in wishing my colleagues well during the recess. I would like to confirm to this House that arrangements are being made to assist Sen. (Dr.) Musuruve to make book donations to the schools in the three counties. view

  • 8 Aug 2019 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. I want to congratulate Sen. Prengei for bringing this Statement. I would like to confirm to this House that I am a Member, in good standing, of the Committee on Roads and Transportation. As Sen. Wetangula has said, the Committee will be visiting Malaba on Thursday. Given that it is the same direction, I believe that when we sit as a Committee, we will see how we can arrange to deal with the two issues within next week and report back to the House. Thank you very much, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. view

  • 7 Aug 2019 in Senate: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I thank you for giving me the opportunity to comment on the petition. It is true that there is need of compensation for land acquired by the Government from private individuals for the construction of the Kibwezi-Kitui-Kabati-Migwani (B7) Road. This is a matter that has occupied conversations within the Committee on Energy, Roads and Transportation. The truth is that the NLC and the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) have been involved in ping-pong where the NLC says that they are ready to compensate sections of the road where they have given award letters but then blame ... view
