  • 20 Mar 2018 in Senate: I will be dumb to comments being made by a colleague Senator about maembe because I do not know what that means. Whereas the principles of democracy are very clear that the majority will have their way, the minority must also have their say. I find myself in that minority within the minority for the reason that the letter that came to your office attests to an election of a new Senate Minority Leader. It lists the names of Senators who participated in the election and it goes on to list the names of those who were absent as three ... view
  • 15 Mar 2018 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, thank you for giving me the Floor. For the avoidance of doubt, I also want to go on record on this matter. Yesterday this House debated a matter on building bridges. Today, the party that brought that Motion is building bridges their own way. I would like us to remember that the NASA is a coalition of the willing. As we speak today, we have Amani National Congress (ANC) led by Wycliffe Musalia Mudavadi, Ford Kenya led by Moses Masika Wetangula, the ODM led by Raila Amollo Odinga and the Wiper Party led by Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka. ... view

  • 13 Mar 2018 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir, for giving me the Floor to add my voice to the welcoming remarks to the visitors from the PAP. On behalf of the people of Kitui County, it is a pleasure to welcome you to Kenya. I request that you find time to tour the City of Nairobi and the outskirts. I got an opportunity earlier to have a word with them and I mentioned that Nairobi City is blessed with a national park within the city. They can take time to visit the park and sample what we have to offer in that park. ... view
  • 8 Mar 2018 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. I stand to comply with your directive yesterday that I substantiate the remarks I made on the Floor; that hon. Babu Owino was arrested on account of alleged insults directed at the President of the Republic of Kenya. All material facts on the remarks made by hon. Babu Owino on 24th September, 2017; the subsequent mass protests and demands for his arrests in Githurai, Juja, Thika, Githunguri, Ruiru, Gatundu, and Kiambu towns, and the consequent arrest of the Member of Parliament on 25th September, 2017 are all matters in the public domain. I sought a ... view
  • 7 Mar 2018 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, it is appalling really to hear that all the police could say was that they are pursuing these two young men who apparently have gone into hiding. I would have expected that the Senate Majority Leader would have come here to tell us that the two offending musicians have already been arrested and appropriately charged. Mr. Speaker, Sir, I do not intend to inflame unnecessary emotions on this matter. However, when a Member of the National Assembly recently uttered words that were interpreted to be an insult to the Head of State, the Member was arrested immediately ... view
  • 7 Mar 2018 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, this is exactly what I was talking about. It has nothing to do with the politics of Jubilee and the National Super Alliance (NASA) parties. It has nothing to do with--- view
  • 7 Mar 2018 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, Hon. Babu Owino was arrested, I think the same day that he uttered words that I do not want to repeat on the Floor of this House against the President. view

  • 7 Mar 2018 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I oblige. It will be done tomorrow. But I am on a point of order. Having said that, let us go back to the issue that I had raised in my Statement. Does the Senate Majority Leader have the liberty to disclose the names that he was given by the IG and tell us the progress in as far as apprehending these two offending musicians is concerned? On the matter of the Governors of Nyeri and Machakos sitting together and talking, we do that all the time and it has not stopped the two men from doing ... view
