  • 7 Mar 2018 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. You gave a direction on that matter yesterday and the direction was that the Chairman would at the very least provide an interim report on the decision to take a new contractor on site. The direction from the Chairperson yesterday was that we would get a brief today and a comprehensive answer tomorrow. I will be guided by you. view
  • 7 Mar 2018 in Senate: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I have seen a one-page response from the PS, Ministry of Energy asking for more time. Remember the matter in contention was on Monday 12th, where a new contractor would be moved to the ground to undertake this project without a settlement on the benefit sharing agreement and the establishment of a coal processing plant at source. The undertaking by the CS and the PS is that the answer will come to the Floor of the House on 13th March, 2018, a day after the matter that I raised yesterday. So, I need direction from you. view
  • 7 Mar 2018 in Senate: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, according to the letter that I was shown by the Senator for Kirinyaga, the PS says that the Ministry will respond to this matter on 13th March, 2018. view

  • 6 Mar 2018 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I rise pursuant to Standing Order No.46(2)(b) to seek a statement from the Chairperson of the Standing Committee on National Cohesion, Equal Opportunity and Regional Integration regarding a song which is derogatory against the Kamba Community composed by some two Kenyan musicians in which they allege that now that the mango season is over, the Kambas will have to resort to eating dogs if they cease to sell charcoal. • 6 Mar 2018 in Senate: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I appreciate what the Chairperson has said. I laud you for giving that general direction on response to questions. However, on behalf of the people of Kitui County, I plead with the Chairperson to give a specific direction on this matter. This coming Monday, 12th March, 2018, it is said that a new contractor will be taken to the ground. This is a different contractor from the one who was introduced to the people of Kitui County. • 1 Mar 2018 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. It is a very sad day because, true, when the Senator for Kiambu was wrongly addressed as ‘the man from Kiambu’ he got agitated and rose on a point of order to reclaim the dignity of his office. However, the same Senator is okay with the rights of fellow elected leaders being violated and raising issues to the effect that we should confine ourselves to relevance. Yes, we want to be relevant. • 22 Feb 2018 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. I also want to take this opportunity, on my behalf and on behalf of the people of Kitui County, to welcome the delegation from West Pokot. There is something that I usually say casually at the lounge; that the people of West Pokot at some point in the political history of this country, did the people of lower eastern proud. At some point, the National Chairman of Wiper democratic movement was none other than the Senator of West Pokot, hon. Sen. Samuel Poghisio. So, we thank you for that. Secondly, I have a personal relationship ... view
  • 22 Feb 2018 in Senate: Thank you Mr. Speaker, Sir. I want to ride on the Statement by Sen. (Rev.) Waqo. Cancer has been declared the number one killer disease in this country and that story has been told in almost every health forum. Could the Ministry indicate what percentage of the budget has been set aside for research, screening and treatment of cancer? view
