  • 18 Feb 2020 in National Assembly: Locusts, as I have said, are in the two of the four constituencies in Embu. They are not choosy. They are eating everything. I do not want to imagine what is going to happen if the locusts move into every other constituency. It is a problem that is so big that the Government should move with speed so that we do not have a bigger problem in future. view

  • 26 Nov 2019 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker for giving me an opportunity to add my voice to this very important Bill. I want to thank Hon. Victor Munyaka for the good work they have done as a Committee. They put a lot of hours into this work and we commend them for that. view
  • 26 Nov 2019 in National Assembly: The gaming industry is among the big industries in the world. The Kenyan society has become a gaming society and mostly the young people. Statistics indicate that almost 95 per cent of the gaming activities are done by the young people. I want to thank the Committee for seeking to change the manner in which gaming is done in this country. In the proposed law, 30 per cent of the shareholding is supposed to be held by Kenyans. This will help in ensuring that lots of money is in circulation in this country. view
  • 26 Nov 2019 in National Assembly: This Bill seeks to protect the right of our young children. This is because if you walk around in the constituencies, you would find many young people and school going children involved in gaming and betting which is very addictive and destroys lives. Seeking to have betting regulated and leave it happen in casinos is a very good idea. For example, Las Vegas in the United States of America (USA) betting is strictly for adults and is done in casinos. view
  • 26 Nov 2019 in National Assembly: We support the idea of regulating betting and gaming so that our young people do not get into this trap and lose their lives in process. Finally, this Bill seeks to regulate the manner in which advertisements are done. The media stations in this country wanted to make it appear as if it is so easy to earn quick money through betting. So, this Bill proposes to have the advertisements done later in the day from 10.00 p.m. to 6.00 a.m. This will help as many people will not be exposed to the betting and gaming industry. view
  • 26 Nov 2019 in National Assembly: Hon. Deputy Speaker, I support. Thank you. view
  • 1 Oct 2019 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker for giving me the opportunity to add my voice to the Early Childhood Education Bill. At the outset, I want to start by saying that I support this Bill because ECD education is very important to our children. It is important for the Government to take this level of education very seriously. view
  • 1 Oct 2019 in National Assembly: We realise that in many county governments across the country, ECD education is not treated the same way. The ECD teachers’ remuneration is inconsistent. In some counties, teachers are paid as less as Kshs8,000 and others are paid as much as Kshs18,000. There are a lot of differences in the way issues are handled at the county level. So, I support the Members who are saying that we revert this function to the national Government. It does not make sense when the national Government monitors the learning issues in a whole school with eight streams and then the county government ... view
