  • 18 Mar 2015 in National Assembly: Thank you very much, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I want to appreciate the students from Nyeri County, who are here today. view
  • 18 Mar 2015 in National Assembly: It is very worrying that 2.2 million Kenyans are addicted to alcohol and drug abuse. We should be concerned because this is a very big percentage of our population that is at stake. We do not even know what their future is. If you come from a county like Nyeri, you will know that we have had very many incidents of persons who abuse drugs and have caused a lot of havoc in their families. I support this Motion. Organisations which manufacture these alcoholic drinks must be held responsible for the disposal of containers. Containers should not be thrown everywhere, ... view
  • 18 Mar 2015 in National Assembly: to Japan and learn from them. In Japan, every bottle that is sold, be it of water or anything else, is either reused or recycled. After recycling, some of them are used for construction of houses or roads instead of tarmac. view
  • 18 Mar 2015 in National Assembly: I do not think so. I would rather just continue. view
  • 18 Mar 2015 in National Assembly: Thank you very much, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. When we were young, we used to have 4K Clubs. During holidays, children went to farming institutions to learn life skills and a lot of other skills. They were also taught to avoid harmful things like alcohol. Alcohol manufacturers should join NACADA and the county governments to contribute to the fight against drug abuse. They should ensure that our children do not just have sports, but also learn other skills. These clubs were very useful. If you go to Wambugu Farm, you will find some children going there during holidays to learn ... view

  • 18 Nov 2014 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, I have a petition directed to the Departmental Committee on Agriculture, Livestock and Cooperatives by Nyeri County coffee farmers. view
  • 18 Nov 2014 in National Assembly: I, the undersigned, on behalf of Nyeri County coffee farmers, draw the attention of the House to the following:- THAT, Kenya is known worldwide for production of superior quality coffee; THAT, Nyeri County accounts for a significant amount of Kenya’s coffee production; THAT, the County Government of Nyeri issued directives that all coffee produced in the county must be collected and delivered to Sagana Coffee Millers, and that marketing, selling and payment of farmers for their coffee would be executed squarely by the county government; THAT, this initiative by the county government has led to delayed payments to farmers for ... view
  • 18 Nov 2014 in National Assembly: 3 Tuesday 18th November, 2014 regulation by the national Government since the coffee sector is not an exclusively county government function; THAT, efforts to engage the county government on the said issue have been fruitless, thus exposing farmers to continued liabilities and debts, which impact adversely on their major source of income; THAT, coffee farmers in Nyeri County have reasonable grounds to justify that the manner in which coffee production is being handled by the county government is not only fraudulent and illegal but also economically unviable; and, THAT, issues in respect of which this petition is made are not ... view
  • 18 Nov 2014 in National Assembly: The petition is signed by five farmers; namely Charles M. Gachari, Samuel R. Macharia, Charles M. Chogo, Joseph Wanjohi and Godfrey Gatheru Ng’echu. view
