  • 18 Mar 2014 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Speaker. I also want to echo my sentiments on this because this morning it was very embarrassing because the Cabinet Secretary for Transport and Infrastructure was to come and tell us about the 20-kilometre road that was promised to all the constituencies. But unfortunately, we were told that he was giving the same report to the Departmental Committee on Transport, Public Works and Housing. When we looked at that report, we found that it did not even talk about the 20-kilometre roads but it just gave the status of the roads that are being done in the ... view
  • 18 Mar 2014 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, I am in the Implementation Committee. I believe that the Implementation Committee is supposed to follow on the resolutions made on the Floor of this House. So, when another Committee hijacks the Cabinet Secretary on the same thing, we wonder whether the same Committee should continue to be there or it should actually be disbanded and we leave the work to the various Committees. view
  • 20 Feb 2014 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Deputy Speaker. I am sure hon. Nyikal is very happy because we initiated these family Bills, but unfortunately, the then Cabinet thought it was not the right time. I am happy the Eleventh Parliament is going to approve the three family Bills. Our contention that time and which is still our contention is that we want to transform our society. How do we do this? We can only transform our society by seeking to uphold family values, teaching values like integrity, justice and equality. Those can only be learnt at the family level. So, I feel happy ... view
  • 20 Feb 2014 in National Assembly: The other issue that we had an issue with then and has been captured is cohabitation. We were saying that you should not take somebody’s daughter or son and let them stay with you and then after ten years after using them, you just discard them like toilet paper. If you stay with them, you have an obligation to marry them, make them man and wife. We were even saying that even the two years that were being proposed was too long. We wanted it to be that if you take my daughter, after six months, you have to marry ... view
  • 28 Nov 2013 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, I just wanted to say that if hon. Rachael Shebesh is leaving the Committee I would have expected the Jubilee Coalition to appoint a lady, and not a man. There are many women who are capable, and who can do the job. So, what the Leader of Majority Party and the Majority Whip are saying does not hold water. view
  • 28 Nov 2013 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, the explanation given by the Majority Whip is not good enough because if you look at the membership of all the parliamentary Committees, you will see that males are more than the females. I would expect that when a woman steps down, she is replaced by a woman. We should not say that because hon. Opore was replaced by a woman, it should go that way. So, I suggest that you put a woman in that committee. view
  • 28 Nov 2013 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, we are not being overworked. We can do the job. In case we feel that we are being overworked, we will say. So far, we have not said that we are being overworked. So, give us the chance to represent our people on the Committees. view
  • 27 Nov 2013 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, Sir, last week, you indicated that I would get a Statement from the Chairperson of the Parliamentary Committee on Health The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposesonly. A certified version of this Report can be obtained from the Hansard Editor. view
  • 27 Nov 2013 in National Assembly: regarding the missing X-ray machine in the Nyeri General Hospital. You indicated that this was a simple task and I would get the information by Tuesday. So far, I have not had it. view
  • 20 Nov 2013 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, pursuant to Standing Order No.44(2)(c) I wish to request a Statement from the Chairperson of the Departmental Committee on Health regarding an X-ray machine that was originally in Nyeri General Hospital and was given to Mathari Mission Hospital. In the Statement, the Chairperson should inquire and report on: view
