  • 20 Jun 2018 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. There are too many distractions around corruption and this might distract the whole process. Therefore, let us deal with one issue and conclude it. Just like typical Kenyans, let us not deal with one issue, forget about it and move to the next one. We, therefore, need to focus on the issue of corruption; otherwise, we can forget about development in this country. Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir, for your indulgence. • 13 Jun 2018 in Senate: Thank you Mr. Speaker, Sir, for the opportunity to support this Petition. Let us assume that we want to conserve the environment, our animals and our heritage. All these will need funds. With the pilferage that is ongoing, we should not lose focus in fighting corruption, so that we have enough money that will ensure that our animals are conserved, people are protected. Enough funds should also be set aside for the communities living around the conservancies to benefit. Thank you. view
  • 7 Jun 2018 in Senate: Thank you, Madam Temporary Speaker. I thank Sen. Chebeni for bringing the Statement because the number of predators on our small girls in schools has increased. This has a psychological impact on the child’s life forever. It is not just something that impacts on their education and social life, but it has a far reaching bearing on them. They need to be protected in schools. This is also against any moral standing of any community. I do not know why it continues happening in this country. It is also against any religious beliefs for most of the religions that I ... view
  • 7 Jun 2018 in Senate: I also think that we need more investment in security in our schools. Thanks to the Jubilee Government for making education free; this has increased the number of girls in schools. Ordinarily, girls from poor backgrounds would have dropped out of schools. The more they are in schools, the more likelihood of these predators pouncing on them increasing. We need to get the gains of free education by leaving these girls in peace to continue with their education uninterrupted and to allow them to be equal to their peers of the opposite sex. view

  • 6 Jun 2018 in Senate: Madam Temporary Speaker, I wish to second this Bill. The Committee has been asking why the National Assembly does not approve the audit reports. We are being told that the equitable share of revenue is 33.6 per cent, which is based on audited accounts for FY 2013/2014. When I asked a question during the Devolution Conference, a Member of the National Assembly who was one of the panelists said that because of the revenues that we generate, even if they approve audits, it will not change the numbers. It is right that it will not change the numbers but it ... view
  • 5 Jun 2018 in Senate: Madam Temporary Speaker, thank you, for giving me this opportunity to contribute to this Bill. First of all, the county retirement benefit is very important, especially with an Executive that is changing every five years. It is very commendable that we are creating this fund to ensure that the security of the counties is taken care of in terms of their retirement to give the county workers a decent retirement. From what I have read, this fund gives people opportunity to even save extra if they wanted. That creates a saving culture which gives them better ability to have a ... view
