  • 10 Jun 2009 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. I wish to seek a Ministerial Statement from the Minister of State for Provincial Administration and Internal Security. What are the circumstances that led to the confrontation between Administration Police and a youth group at Njiru area of Embakasi Constituency yesterday as was covered in the news yesterday evening? Also a month ago, there was the same confrontation. Is the Minister aware that the youth group is one of the illegal organized gangs operating in Embakasi and Nairobi as a whole? Is the Minister also aware that the same illegal organized ... view

  • 4 Jun 2009 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir. This issue is of corruption in nature. Very many Kenyans are concerned about the issue of the cemetery. It is supposed to benefit Kenyans in Nairobi. We need to get to the bottom of the matter in order to understand the truth. This Question should proceed so that we can debate the matter and know exactly what happened. view
  • 4 Jun 2009 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, a cemetery is a very important facility in Nairobi. If you visit Langata Cemetery right now you will find that bodies are being buried in graves where others were previously buried. The issue of buying land for a cemetery was in City Hall even when I was there as the Deputy Mayor. One specification of land for a cemetery was that it had to be a red-soil piece of land. However, the land that was bought, through corruption, is rocky. Could the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Local Government clarify why the Council left ... view

  • 4 Jun 2009 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, the Nairobi City Council offices are located just on the road opposite and the land we will investigate is about 10 kilometres away. Why should the Committee take three months to complete its investigation? I do not want to contradict your ruling, but three months is too long! view
  • 3 Jun 2009 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, the Dandora Dumpsite has been a health hazard to Dandora residents. Two months ago, the same Assistant Minister promised, in this House, to decommission Dandora Dumpsite. In fact, he had given us a promise of doing so, within a month. However, to date, he has not decommissioned it. It is a pity that they have set up another dumpsite at Kayole. Could he confirm to this House that Kayole will not become another dumpsite like the one we have in Dandora? view
  • 3 Jun 2009 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, it seems that there is confusion between the Nairobi City Council and the Ministry of Environment and Mineral Resources on how to manage solid waste in Nairobi. The NCC has assigned JICA to do some studies on how to handle the Dandora Dumpsite. According to them, it is better if we go on using the Dandora Dumpsite. The Minister for Environment and Mineral Resources is proposing to decommission it. Which is which? Could he also give us a time frame he will decommission this site? What he is planning to do about Kayole where they have ... view
  • 3 Jun 2009 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. The Assistant Minister’s claim that they are using Kayole as a sorting area is not true. Actually they are dumping garbage there. In fact, we are very worried that they want to start another dumpsite. Could the Assistant Minister confirm that they are not starting another dumpsite at the Kayole quarry? view
