  • 13 Nov 2008 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. What I was telling the November 13, 2008 PARLIAMENTARY DEBATES 3467 Assistant Minister is that he should not change the whole colours of the matatus. But he should have a particular colour on the sides for different routes. If it is for Kayole, it should be written Kayole-Muthurwa, Umoja-Muthurwa and Embakasi Village- Muthurwa. That would solve the problem. view
  • 12 Nov 2008 in National Assembly: asked the Minister for Environment and Mineral Resources:- (a) whether he is aware of the deteriorating state of Dandora Dumpsite, which has caused so many respiratory diseases to residents of Dandora and neighbouring areas; and, (b) what action he is taking to ensure that the dump site is hygienically managed to ensure safety of area residents. view
  • 12 Nov 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, the Dandora Dumpsite has been a health hazard for a long time. So many promises have been made before by different agencies. This time round, I would wish to know what specific steps the Assistant Minister is taking to help the sick people in Dandora due to the gases emitted from the dump site? view
  • 12 Nov 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, first and foremost, there is no rehabilitation at the Dandora Dump Site. Again, just recently, the officials from the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) came for an exercise at Kariobangi Estate and the residents there refused to allow the Ministry to bring the transfer station. I really think that the Assistant Minister is not actually aware of what is happening as far as the issue of the Dandora Dump Site is concerned! He should consult again so that he can give a comprehensive answer. That is because what I actually want to know is: What is ... view
  • 12 Nov 2008 in National Assembly: Thank you, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, for your protection! Could the Assistant Minister tell us when he is commissioning the Ruai Sanitary Site and when he is de-commissioning the Dandora Dumpsite? view
  • 11 Nov 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, I rise to support this Bill. I wish to point out some issues that I feel should be attended to by the Ministry. There are proposals on private- public partnership policy that, if speeded up, are going to increase investment by private entrepreneurs. In Nairobi, there are roads that should be built immediately, so that the eastern part of Nairobi can be opened up. For example, Outer Ring Road is a very important road in eastern Nairobi. If we had the policy of public-private partnership, some private investors could have invested in roads like this ... view
  • 30 Oct 2008 in National Assembly: asked the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Local Government:- (a) if he is aware that Manyanja Road, connecting Sprine and Outer Ring roads and whose construction was scheduled to take one year, has not been completed despite October 30, 2008 PARLIAMENTARY DEBATES 3177 the lapse of the contract time; and, (b) when the construction will be completed. view
  • 30 Oct 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I appreciate the new dates. However, I wish to let you know that this road is the gateway to Kayole Estate and Soweto areas which have suffered a great loss of business because of non-completion of this road. This road also could ease traffic jam on the notorious Outer Ring road. Therefore, the quick completion of this road will benefit the people of this area. Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, there is a tendency of contractors who do not complete their work in time, being awarded contracts in Embakasi. I am requesting the Assistant Minister, through the ... view
  • 30 Oct 2008 in National Assembly: Yes, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. view
  • 29 Oct 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I beg to ask the Attorney-General the following Question by Private Notice. (a) Could the Attorney-General indicate when the respective directors of Embakasi Ranching Company, Ngindu Farmers Company, Githunguri Farmers Company and Buru Buru Farmers Company were elected into office? (b) Considering that the said companies have not held annual general meetings since the year 2000, why has he not taken action against the directors for contravening the Companies Act, Cap.486? (c) What action will he take against the directors for the said contravention? (d) When will the Registrar of Companies facilitate the Annual General Meetings ... view
