  • 6 Oct 2021 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairlady, it is just a matter of correction and addition in Clause 18. We come from the sugar belt, and it has been mentioned in Clause 18(7)(d) that 45 per centum shall be applied for infrastructure The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposesonly. • 6 Oct 2021 in National Assembly: development in the sugar sub-sector on a pro rata basis. I want to add the words “and maintenance” after the word “development,” because you can develop but not maintain. We have a lot of infrastructure problems. We should, therefore, add the word “maintenance” as well so that we develop and maintain. view

  • 6 Oct 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, I have been waiting patiently for this opportunity. This ratification is long overdue because times are changing and the youths do not respect the older people. So, we should enhance this because I know for sure, in the last Parliament, we passed that all buildings must have provision for disabled people. I have gone round and in some areas this provision has not been taken care of. The older people have been neglected and I want to agree with the previous speaker on the delayed cash transfer to our people. Most of them are ... view
  • 6 Oct 2021 in National Assembly: I quite agree. Let us go with this proposal of six months so that we put them under pressure. In sugar areas, there is a lot of talk. We are better of passing this today because back at home, our supporters are very uneasy about this. Let us put this at six months instead of 12 months. view
  • 6 Oct 2021 in National Assembly: It is just a minute, Members. You know, there are members of staff who are under AFFA and, maybe, they are now being promoted to certain positions. Those who were there may go to the Sugar Board but you cannot force them to go. There are those who were there and maybe they have even got better positions. So, it should be acted on. The word should be “may” rather than forcing them to go to the Sugar Board. view
  • 5 Oct 2021 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, in this country, we have what we call busybodies. This is one of those busybodies. The Petition is from his perspective. Maybe, he has tried to be a Member of the County Assembly (MCA) or a Member of Parliament (MP) and has failed many times. It is frustration. It does not make sense. I am asking the Committee to which you have referred this Petition to dismiss it right here and now, unless they have nothing to do. This is just a waste of time. I do not think he has any reason. This person is a busybody ... view
