  • 27 Feb 2018 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, allow me to make some little comments before my colleagues… I would like to make two comments that may be useful as a summary of what we are discussing. view
  • 27 Feb 2018 in National Assembly: Yes, I want the Chairman to listen to it. view
  • 27 Feb 2018 in National Assembly: He can consult after I say what I am about to say. He is on HANSARD. I do not think he is going to listen to the HANSARD. First and foremost, it is about redesigning of roads. We have more vehicles on our roads than we used to in the past. Every week we have new vehicles on the road. So, there is need for us to redesign the roads particularly in the urban areas. We need emergency lanes. Places like South B and Westlands, in case of an emergency, the ambulances struggle to get patients to hospitals. There is ... view
  • 27 Feb 2018 in National Assembly: have gone to KeRRA and the Ministry in charge of our road infrastructure to follow up on the same. I do not have any tarmac road in my place. Is it because I belong to NASA? I went to KeRRA and I was told that my constituency has roads. I hope that the engineer in charge of KeRRA is listening to me. We said that each constituency that does not have tarmac roads, whether it is Jubilee zone or not would get 20 kilometers of road. Nothing has happened so far. What happened? I need an answer. I have gone ... view
  • 20 Feb 2018 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, thank you for the opportunity. I have been sitting here with an intention to contribute to this Motion. I support this Sessional Paper. I am a very disappointed man. I am over 50 years old and I think we have taken nature very casually. As somebody said, and we all know it, climate change is with us and we are doing very little about that. One thing is that, as somebody said, nature has been very kind to us and it is only good for us to reciprocate by doing something about it. Everybody has said ... view
  • 20 Feb 2018 in National Assembly: Members that let us take liberty because NG-CDF has got money for afforestation. You can use 10 per cent of that money to plant trees in every primary school. Fifty years to come you will not be there, I will not be here, most of us will not be here, but the generation will ask what we did for them. Today, as Hon. Mbarire mentioned and I agree with her, sometimes back when I was in Nairobi and doing business up to Nyeri, I could see there was cover. When you were flying down Mombasa sometimes back you could see ... view

  • 13 Dec 2017 in National Assembly: THAT, pursuant to the provisions of Standing Order 33, I seek leave of the House to discuss an urgent matter of national importance regarding gruesome road accidents that have persistently rocked various parts of the country, claiming over 40 lives within two days in Baringo, Bungoma, Machakos and, lately, on the 14-kilometre stretch of the road between Sachangwan and Salgaa. The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposesonly. A certified version of this Report can be obtained from the Hansard Editor. view
  • 13 Dec 2017 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, much has been said about the treacherous 14-kilometre stretch of road between Salgaa and Sachangwan that has become the most notorious black spot in the country, where hardly a week passes before a grisly road accident is reported. That deadly stretch of road has claimed many lives over the years. Besides sending messages of condolences, rebuking drivers and waiting for the next accident to happen, the Government, through the relevant authorities, has done too little to bring a lasting solution to the menace on that stretch of the road. The Salgaa-Sachangwan Road stretch is sloppy, winding and narrow, ... view
