Florence was at one point the vice chairperson of Law Society of Kenya (LSK). During her campaigns she overcame all odds to win against the strong Alliance Party of Kenya (APK) wave in her backyard. The impetus to seek a platform to represent the people of Meru was created by the pro bono cases she undertook in the years she practiced law in Meru.

Parties. The mechanisms which are being sought by Part (e) of the objectives cannot be implemented. How will sanctions be brought and who is going to ensure that what we say today is going to be implemented in an electoral situation?

There is no point of massaging the female gender at this point. We have tried in this House and I remember we requested our male Members to have dinner with us. We were ready to go out and dance, but they refused. So, we are now pleading with them and telling them that they are not doing this for the women who are seated in this House today. They are doing it for their daughters, sisters and the next generation. When we talk about Article 100 of the Constitution, we have the youth and persons with disabilities. We are talking ...

In my view, we are not striking any balance. As Hon. Mishi has said, there are lady legislators who are nominated, empowered and are going out there to seek for gubernatorial positions. The presidential candidate in the United States of America (USA), Hillary Clinton, was given many opportunities and was the Secretary of State among other things. Now, she is going for the seat of the superpower in this world. This is because she was empowered. Why are we being so mean when the Constitution just asked for very little from the other sex? It requires that we ensure there ...

Thank you, Hon. Speaker. I rise to second the amendment Bill. I would also like to tell the Leader of the Majority Party that all lawyers are good. In case a lawyer has an issue, we have a disciplinary process which he or she undergoes once a complaint has been filed against him or her. This Bill is very important, especially to Kenyans who are desperate to have insurance covers that would cater for them in the event of unfortunate incidents occurring. The first issue is to expand the areas upon which coverage of insurance shall be. That is why ...

This means each and every area - be it of the practice or service industry - must be included in terms of the provisions that are there. Takaful insurance will take care of the area that was left out in the current insurance law as it stands. Basically, this is the industry that covers the Islamic concept and represents solidarity and mutual assistance on group participation. It guarantees members against any defined loss or damage. Hon. Speaker, the beauty of Takaful insurance is that it will ensure that all members who are covered under it do not suffer personal damage. ...

settle the claims is limited to 30 days. That helps the persons or the consumers of the insurance industry. I, therefore, feel that this is a good Bill with good amendments that the House should appreciate and accept as we move forward because this is a market that is expanding and we should learn to expand with it. I beg to second.

Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairman. I rise to support the deletion. The justification by the Chair is good considering that what maintains our KDF is from Kenyans who pay taxes. Therefore, it is important that Kenyans get to know how their money is The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposesonly. Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairman. I note as well that the Committee has done a good job by ensuring that it has tapped into all clauses that would have brought issues in implementation. I also would like to tell my friend, Hon. (Dr.) Nyikal, that what he has just said proves to this country that the Jubilee administration is the best administration that you can ever have. I challenge him to cross the Floor and join us because we will ensure that he participates. Over and above that, my support for this new clause is because there should be ...
