Florence Kajuju

Florence was at one point the vice chairperson of Law Society of Kenya (LSK). During her campaigns she overcame all odds to win against the strong Alliance Party of Kenya (APK) wave in her backyard. The impetus to seek a platform to represent the people of Meru was created by the pro bono cases she undertook in the years she practiced law in Meru.

  • 5 Sep 2013 in National Assembly: I rise to support the Motion as amended by saying that it is very unfair for a legal process to be clouded by a political process. The ICC process has all along enjoyed a lot of faith from each and every Kenyan. However, the moment a legal process is turned into a political process, as leaders chosen by the people, we must give a political direction to our people. What I am saying is that today, as the 11th Parliament, we are showing the people of Kenya the political direction that we must take as a country. view

  • 6 Aug 2013 in National Assembly: A Member has asked whether it is possible to compare sanitary pads with food. I am advised that it was hon. Waititu. I am saying that if we do not have the sanitary pads, we cannot even eat food. This is because sanitary pads are our life. view

  • 6 Aug 2013 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairlady, I would like to bring to the attention of Members the provisions of Article 27(6) of the Constitution. If you allow me, it reads:- “(6) To give full effect to the realization of the rights guaranteed under this Article, the State shall take legislative and other measures, including affirmative action programmes and policies designed to redress any disadvantage suffered by individuals or groups because of past discrimination”. view
  • 6 Aug 2013 in National Assembly: The disabled and the blind are part of the class we would say that past Governments have not looked at in terms of provision of basic needs. Therefore, this is a very progressive amendment that has been brought to the House. I support. view
