  • 30 Jul 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, if that is what the Strategic Manager, indeed, clearly said during the launch of Alvaro, and the Ministers has said that, that drink does not have any alcoholic content--- Hon. C. Kilonzo had clearly indicated that immediately after opening the drink and the contents come into contact with air, they are bound to ferment. view
  • 30 Jul 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, this is not rocket science. We believe it has alcohol and I think the Ministry should go into deeper straits to exactly analyze that drink, because I think it is the major cause of the problems that we are having in this country and it is ruining our students! view
  • 30 Jul 2008 in National Assembly: On a point or order, Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir. view
  • 30 Jul 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, in the recent past Questions have been raised in this House, but we have witnessed the conduct of Ministers being not quite acceptable to this House. If I may state very clearly, on 22nd July, 2008 when the Minister for Education was giving a Ministerial Statement on the unrest in schools, the Chairman of the Departmental Committee on Education, Research and Technology, Mr. Koech, raised the issue of alcohol content in the Alvaro drink. Even before the answer was brought before this House and a substantive Question by Ms. S. Abdalla been filed, we found ... view
  • 24 Jul 2008 in National Assembly: asked the Minister for Industrialisation:- (a) whether he is aware that currently there are too many counterfeit goods from other countries flooding the Kenyan market; (b) whether he is satisfied that the Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) is performing its duty of inspection to ensure that goods and services meet the set standards; and, (c) what other steps he has taken to ensure that KEBS undertakes its duties of checking the situation and to safeguard the interests of consumers in the country. view
  • 24 Jul 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I must commend the Assistant Minister for his attempt to answer this Question. However, I would want him to tell this House the actual core mandate of the KEBS. view
  • 24 Jul 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, the Assistant Minister has admitted before this House that one of the major challenges that the KEBS is facing is inadequacy of staff and equipment. Could he tell us what he is doing to make sure that there is enough staff and equipment, so that the KEBS is able to address that problem? view
  • 23 Jul 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, since we have a number of medical facilities or July 23, 2008 PARLIAMENTARY DEBATES 2005 institutions that are being funded by other donors like the former Plan International, I think that it is also important that the Minister considers posting medical personnel to these medical institutions in order to assist Kenyans. I have in mind dispensaries like Nthambiru and Kirindini in my constituency where we have a lot of equipment from Plan International, but which has not been put to use for the last five years. view
  • 23 Jul 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I beg to ask the Minister of State for Provincial Administration and Internal Security the following Question by Private Notice. 2048 PARLIAMENTARY DEBATES July 23, 2008 (a) Is the Minister aware that a serious state of insecurity obtains in the larger Nyambene District with two incidents of cattle rustling and theft of over 200 head of cattle in the last two months? (b) Is he also aware that in June, 2008, a mini-bus and Nissan matatu were carjacked at Nciru and Karama markets respectively, resulting in the death of a police officer and loss of money and ... view
  • 23 Jul 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, let me thank the Assistant Minister to trying to answer the Question and more specifically, because of his honesty. He has clearly admitted that the state of insecurity in Igembe is in such an alarming rate. I would like to request him to tell us the urgent measures that he is immediately putting in place to arrest insecurity in Igembe. My constituents are not able to do their businesses in peace or even have good sleep at night. view
