  • 20 Jan 2009 in National Assembly: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. view
  • 20 Jan 2009 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I think teachers have been taken for granted for a very long time and it is sad. The role played by teachers in modelling the future of this country cannot be underestimated. The Minister for Finance can come to this House with a Sessional Paper for getting guarantee of a loan to feed Kenyans, and the money they sought may end up disappearing into the pockets of very a few people! view
  • 20 Jan 2009 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, why is it not possible for the Minister to take urgent measures, even if it means borrowing money so that teachers can be paid and our children get back to school? view
  • 27 Nov 2008 in National Assembly: asked the Minister for Education:- (a) whether he could state the requirements for registration of a primary and secondary school respectively; (b) whether he is aware that there are many schools operating without registration and which do not meet the basic registration qualifications; and, (c) what he is doing to stop this practice. view
  • 27 Nov 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I appreciate the effort by the Assistant Minister to answer this Question comprehensively. However, he has brought about the issue of title deeds and allotment letters. I would like the Assistant Minister to tell us specifically what size of land is required for a school to be registered. The unrest we witnessed last term was a result of some schools not having adequate land for children to train. I want--- view
  • 27 Nov 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I am really surprised by the manner in which the Assistant Minister is answering this Question. Mr. Speaker, Sir, in his answer to part (b), the Assistant Minister admits that he is aware that there are schools that are operating without registration. If that is the case, why should the Assistant Minister allow schools to operate without being registered? Is he there to perpetuate the breaking of the law or the guidelines that the Ministry has clearly set out for registration of schools? How many un-registered schools are there, since he has admitted? view
  • 12 Nov 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, the youth of this country form quite a big percentage of the population. The issue of unemployment among the youth is, therefore, really adding to the poverty level in this country. I want the Minister to tell us the specific programmes that he has put in place to address the issue of unemployment amongst the youth. I believe that if that issue is not addressed, then we will not be bridge the gap between the rich and the poor or the haves and have-nots. view
  • 4 Nov 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, incidentally, this man met his death in my constituency at Nthambiro in Igembe South. In September, I asked a Question in this House about the steps the Government was taking to arrest insecurity in the area. The Assistant Minister promised to tour my constituency, among other areas. view
  • 4 Nov 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, now that insecurity is so rampant in this area, what steps is the Assistant Minister taking to solve this problem once and for all, because our people are suffering? When will he be in a position to tour my constituency, as earlier arranged? view
  • 30 Oct 2008 in National Assembly: asked the Minister for Public Health and Sanitation what plans she has to provide medical staff and fully operationalize Nthambiro, Kiraone and Kiegoi health centres which are fully equipped, but are not operational due to lack of staff. view
