  • 17 May 2011 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, it appears from the Assistant Minister’s answers that, many Kenyans registered after the Presidential Directive that was given on 20th July, 2009. Could he confirm to this House whether, after that particular date, those operators have given out sim cards without registration? view

  • 21 Apr 2011 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, I want to congratulate the Assistant Minister for this good unsolicitated Statement. At the same time, I want to share with the Minister that I had a chance to share and go out for dinner with the Kenyan champions that went to represent Kenya in Boston Marathon last week including Mr. Mutai who brought gold to this country under the invitation of the Governor of Massachusetts in Boston. The issue that I want to understand from the Assistant Minister is that as many countries want to honour and appreciate the good work the Kenyan athletes ... view
  • 5 Apr 2011 in National Assembly: Thank you, Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir. The prevalence of cancer in this country is rising. It is very unfortunate that the Minister for Medical Services is a victim of cancer. Considering that the Kenyatta National Hospital is the only national referral hospital that we have in this country, it is very sad to note that, that machine has been down for the last one month and there are no clear measures being taken to have it repaired. I am not satisfied with the answer that Kshs30 million will be factored in the 2011/2012 Budget to repair the equipment. That ... view
  • 31 Mar 2011 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, time is a resource that most people are really not able to quantify. In this case, the Minister should have known in good time that the Board was due to expire by the seventh month of the last year. Why is it that the Ministry did not start the process of identifying and vetting the board members in good time so that those young business people who benefit or borrow money from that institution really do not have to suffer by waiting for over seven months before they agree to give them loans? view
  • 24 Feb 2011 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, while I appreciate the work that REA is doing in conjunction with the KPLC, I want to understand because the amount of money put in terms of laying the infrastructure for the KPLC to provide power is so immense, whether the Ministry is taking any measures to ensure that the consumers of power in this country get some kind of rebate in terms of subsidized power bills because this is public money that is being put to provide infrastructure for a private company. view
  • 17 Feb 2011 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, the Economic Stimulus money was in the 2009/2010 Budget. This money was supposed to stimulate economic growth in the various constituencies in this country. Out of these delays, has this money achieved the expected stimulus in the various constituencies? view
  • 2 Feb 2011 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Speaker, Sir. The purpose of the Procurement and Disposal Act is to enhance efficiency and competition. In view of the circular, however much I appreciate that you need to support our national carrier, I am afraid this is giving leverage to Kenya Airways to do business at the expense of others. If we are to support our national carrier, I want to know the percentage of shareholding of Kenyans in Kenya Airways, so as to show that we are supporting our own. view
  • 19 Jan 2011 in National Assembly: Thank you, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, for giving me this opportunity to contribute and support this Motion. Sometimes, I am lost for words to express myself when it comes to matters that seem obvious, especially when we have a Government that is supposed to be planning for this country. view
  • 19 Jan 2011 in National Assembly: Famine is not a new phenomenon in this country. The Prime Minister gave a speech in this House on the looming disaster associated with the effects of La Nina . I would have expected the Government to have taken serious steps to prepare itself because this is a matter that was expected. It is very surprising to find that our Government does not have a serious clear policy, mechanisms and a clear structure on how to fight famine. I would like to take this chance to advise the Government to take this matter seriously. The money that is always set ... view
