  • 27 Aug 2009 in National Assembly: Madam Temporary Deputy Speaker, the other observations were that a total of 29 persons were killed in Mathira attacks. Twenty two of these were slaughtered in upper Gathaithi village near the border with Kirinyanga West while seven others were killed in Kiraiyu Trading centre. Fourteen Mungiki sect members were killed by vigilante groups prior to the murders on 20th and 21st of April, 2009. view

Elgon is not like Mau. Two weeks ago the Minister for Forestry and Wildlife, Dr. Wekesa, and I overflew Mt. Elgon and we did a thorough inspection on the conservation and we saw that the forest in Mt. Elgon is intact. view

The Committee was able to examine the 2009/2010 Estimates of the Ministry and raised pertinent issues arising from the proceedings of the meeting.   • 19 Aug 2009 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, on comparison of the allocation for the 2008/2009 and 2009/2010 Financial Years, the Committee noted that there is an overall increment allocation for the Vote this Financial Year as compared to the Supplementary Estimates of 2008/2009, and the increment went up from 0.23 per cent to 0.28 per cent.
