  • 20 Mar 2018 in Senate: Madam Temporary Speaker, pursuant to Standing Order 46(2)(b), I rise to seek a statement from the Chairperson of the Standing Committee on Devolution and Inter-Governmental Relations. This is with regard to the delayed handing over of the Lake Basin Mall to the Lake Basin Development Authority (LBDA). In the response, the Chairperson should address the following:- (1) Explain why the Lake Basin Mall in Kisumu County has not been handed over to the Lake Basin Development Authority long after its completion in the year 2017. • 20 Mar 2018 in Senate: Madam Temporary Speaker, two weeks is such a long time because I saw that the Ministry went to Kisumu sometime last week. I thought they will give an answer this week on whether they will open the mall this week or next week. Therefore, when they tell me that they will give the response in two weeks, I am curious to find out why they went down there. It will be appropriate if they can give the response in one weeks’ time, next week or this week. view
  • 13 Mar 2018 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir, for giving me a minute. I want to bring to the attention of the Chairperson the fact that the imported cheap fish from China is causing great danger to people in Kisumu County. If research was to be done today among our people, it will show that the birth rate has gone down significantly in Kisumu County. Is it possible to stop importing fish from China because it is causing more harm to our people? Lastly--- view

  • 1 Mar 2018 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I stand here with a very heavy heart because as I thought the country was trying to heal, this afternoon, it is more like we are trying to open up the wounds. If this statement is not considered to be profiling a community, then I would not really be able to understand when people referred to other communities to be the only ones who attended the swearing-in, especially by the names that have been read in this House today, mentioning only the Hon. Members from one community. Mr. Speaker, Sir, I want to categorically say that I ... view

  • 1 Mar 2018 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, let me remind the Hon. Senator from Kiambu that I was in the 10th Parliament when he was not even known to be anywhere. When he talks about Standing Orders I truly understand what they are all about. I seek your indulgence on this Statement so that the Leader of Majority can go back and refer this matter to the Standing Committee on National security, Defense and Foreign Relations for investigation. Since, the way he read those names, truly if you want to heal this nation, they cannot come back here and be read the same way. ... view
