  • 17 Feb 2009 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I do not want to engage him in a witch hunt, even though the facts before me are a bit different. But if I acknowledge that they are doing the right work, may I clarify from the Assistant Minister the following:- view
  • 17 Feb 2009 in National Assembly: (a) That in order to safeguard or, rather, what will you do to safeguard the integrity of the investigation, given that the officers we suspect to have been involved in that brutal death are based at that police station? view
  • 17 Feb 2009 in National Assembly: (b) Secondly, Mr. Speaker, Sir, I would like him to clarify the following: That is not the first time we have had a problem with Juja Police Station. There has been hue and cry, out of the entire Juja District, that, that is a problem area! What are you doing to ensure that we get officers who are serious with their work; that will protect the public and that will instill confidence in the people of Juja Town in the Police Force? That is because, at the moment, I assure you that the people of Juja have no faith in ... view
  • 11 Feb 2009 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir. I rise to seek a Ministerial Statement from the Minister of State for Provincial Administration and Internal Security in relation to an incident that happened at the Juja Police Station last week where a man, a Mr. Jeremiah Munene, was arrested on a traffic offence on Thursday night. He was then thrown into jail and something must have happened because, at about 2.00 a.m. on Friday morning, he was rushed to hospital where he passed away. view
  • 11 Feb 2009 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, that is a very serious matter. It has caused a lot of tension in that area. In fact, there have been riots on the main Thika-Nairobi Highway. I am asking that the Minister be directed by yourself to issue a statement on this matter as soon as possible, preferably by tomorrow. That is because it cannot wait much longer. We need to know the cause of death. We need to know what steps were taken by the police in that whole saga. We need to bring the matter to a closure that is acceptable, reasonable, ... view
  • 11 Feb 2009 in National Assembly: Thank you, Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir. view
  • 11 Feb 2009 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, first, I want to commend the Minister for giving a very comprehensive Statement. It seems we now have serious progress towards resolving the wrangles. However, in her Statement she stated that she is organising "The Football We Want" conference. I just want to inform her that before we can have whatever football we want, we are going nowhere if we are not recognised by FIFA. So, the emphasis must be on one unified FIFA-recognised body, which will then make all the other benefits to flow. Could she, therefore, confirm that in the absence of an agreement, ... view
  • 11 Feb 2009 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir. Would I be in order, even though I am not the one who raised the question--- The hon. Member has listed things that have already been done. The list of participants is known because the conference has ended. What was paid is known because the conference has ended. All those things that can be picked and delivered to the House, including what he asked about the recommendations being tabled in this House. He did not ask that they should be tabled immediately! So, it is obviously possible to answer these ... view
  • 11 Feb 2009 in National Assembly: Thank you, Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir. I just wanted to ensure that we have an efficient Government. view
