  • 17 Mar 2015 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, for giving me a chance to contribute to this Motion of Adjournment. Insecurity in this country is a concern to every Kenyan. Kenyans are, therefore, looking up to leaders to give solutions to insecurity. We are tired of waiting until something happens and then we are told that investigations have been launched. At the end of the day, after the victims have been buried, that is the end of the story. Prevention is better than cure. We need to protect Kenyans. I want to remind the Jubilee Government that as per the Constitution, they ... view
  • 12 Mar 2015 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I wish to seek for a Statement from the Chairperson of the Standing Committee on Labour and Social Welfare, pursuant to Standing Order45(2) (b), relating to cash transfer of funds to persons with severe disability. In my Statement, I would like the Chairperson to explain:- (a) why despite the requirement that cash transfer disbursement to persons with severe disability be done every two months; it is now taking six months for the payment of the same to the beneficiaries. (b) to state whether he is aware that the delay greatly inconveniences this category of Kenyans who are ... view
  • 10 Mar 2015 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, for allowing me to add my voice to this sensitive Bill. First, I want to thank the sponsor of this Bill who is Sen. (Prof.)--- I have forgotten the name. view
  • 10 Mar 2015 in Senate: Yes, Sen. (Prof.) Anyang’-Nyong’o. Thank you very much for reminding me. The issue of harambee is a noble cause, but it is sometimes misused and it becomes meaningless. I want to support the harambee spirit because it is a noble cause, helping one another to achieve an objective that will benefit a society, community or family that is in hardship. Indeed, it is important to have these harambees being controlled by having a body that will control the way they are being managed and run, for us to have something that will touch the life of a person in the ... view
  • 26 Feb 2015 in Senate: Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, thank you for allowing me to add my voice to this important Motion. First of all, I want to congratulate the Committee for working tirelessly to ensure that we have this Report that touches on the development of our counties. As we know, development is a matter that is concerned with people’s lives and the future of the generations to come. I want to say that as we work as a House or as Senate to ensure that the Government gets revenue allocation, they need to be reminded that this money is not for personal gain ... view
  • 26 Nov 2014 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I thank you for giving me this time. I join my fellow Senators in condemning this issue. Indeed, our colleague, Sen. Hassan is under threat. His life is under attack because if he is being attacked through social media then something somewhere is cooking. We should not just assume it. The security of Sen. Hassan should be beefed up. What worries me is the way our security apparatus or institutions handle cases. When you report that you are under threat, it is taken lightly. Many of us have been threatened and nothing has happened. We must speak ... view
  • 26 Nov 2014 in Senate: On a point of order, Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir. I would like to know if I am not reflecting on the request list because I requested to give my contribution a long time ago. view
  • 26 Nov 2014 in Senate: Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, I want to support the Motion as amended with further amendments. I want to concur with my colleagues on the issue of insecurity in this country. I want to say that prevention is better than cure. Kenyans are tired of insecurity. Kenyans are tired of being told that investigation is being done after people have lost their lives. As I am speaking right now, Kenyans are mourning their loved ones. It has become a routine that investigation will be done, but after burial nothing continues. It is time for this country to change strategy on how ... view
  • 26 Nov 2014 in Senate: Thank you. We, as leaders, must unite so that we can bring this to an end; so that Kenyans are assured of their security. I support. view
  • 13 Nov 2014 in Senate: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, thank you for allowing me to contribute to this Motion. I want to say that Kenyans are watching and listening and a time will come when Kenyans will be tired. The power and sovereignty of this country is in the hands of Kenyans. Any leader elected by Kenyans has a role and a duty to protect the Constitution. The violation of this Constitution is an indication that they want Kenyans to continue suffering as they have suffered for the last 50 years. I ask myself so many questions: If we deny county governments resources and we ... view
