  • 13 Nov 2014 in Senate: Thank you, Madam Temporary speaker. I support this Report because it has reminded me of the war that I am struggling with in terms of retirement age for persons with disabilities. According to the law, Kenyans are supposed to retire at the age of 60, but for persons with disabilities, it supposed to be 65. Some Kenyans with disabilities are being retired at 55 years, without being prepared, especially, the private sector is violating this. I think if this is adopted, and it becomes law, it is going to help Kenyans in these brackets who are suffering. We have Kenyans ... view
  • 13 Nov 2014 in Senate: Madam Temporary, Speaker, it is an intervention. In fact, it is a point of order. Is Sen. G.G. Kariuki in order to show the public that the House is empty? Senators are just relaxing may be taking tea. The House is not empty. Is he in order? view

  • 5 Nov 2014 in Senate: Thank you, Madam Temporary Speaker, for allowing me to contribute to this Motion. First, we must agree that when we are starting something, we must have teething problems. But we should not allow the teething problems to be a problem that will make us to fail to achieve what we wanted to achieve. Madam Temporary Speaker, the starting point is all about devolving functions and the funds. • 4 Nov 2014 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. I want to contribute to the amendment. First, I want to thank Sen. Elachi and Madam Ann Waiguru, for having the passion, especially for people with disabilities. I remember that when she was launching this programme, I raised the issues and she promised to act. Indeed she has kept the promise because persons living with disabilities are featuring somewhere and I appreciate that. The amendment will allow us, as Kenyans, to engage our youth positively by having them occupied, reducing idleness and also bringing on board the issue of cohesion and coexistence amongst them. • 23 Oct 2014 in National Assembly: Thank you Mr. Speaker, Sir. This afternoon, I want to join fellow Senators in passing our condolences to a departed hero of this country. As I was watching television, something came to my mind. What will I be remembered for in this country? As a leader, what can I do so as to be remembered? This gave me a lesson that in whatever we do, we must work hard to ensure that we are remembered for the good things we do and not for the bad things we have done. We must work hard to ensure that we do good ... view
