  • 14 Feb 2014 in Senate: On a point of order, Mr. Speaker, Sir. I want to request Sen. Daisy to apologize because we are dealing with a matter that came from the MCAs. If the MCAs came up with issues that are affecting the common citizen, and she is treating them as petty things, is she in order? view

  • 20 Nov 2013 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir. I would like to inform Sen. (Dr.) Khalwale about the funeral he has spoken about that took place last weekend. I want to concur with him that it happened last Saturday again in Matungu at the funeral of former Councilor, Leni Baraza. The Deputy Speaker again came with the same, same budget and it was handed over to members of the public. It was really shameful because it showed how irresponsible the leaders are. I was forced to tell the people that they should give us time, as Senators and that we were to ... view

  • 19 Nov 2013 in Senate: Thank you, Madam Temporary Speaker, for allowing me to contribute and support this Motion on science, technology and innovation. I am looking at science, technology and innovation to be a potential and significant contributor towards the attainment of Vision 2030. It also helps to mainstream the system of education at all levels of education and academia. It goes a long way in the creation of science, technology and innovation in our Kenyan culture. It will also contribute more effectively in increasing confidence when dealing with science, technology and innovation, including developing curiosity and skills and all methods of inquiry in ... view
  • 7 Nov 2013 in Senate: Thank you, Madam Temporary Speaker, for giving me this opportunity. First, I want to thank Sen. (Dr.) Khalwale for bringing this Bill. This Bill has really touched my heart. I, being a leader, who has been serving poor people in my community, understand what we mean by leaders humbling themselves to the level of people they are serving. This is embarrassing because I remember when we were running round marshalling votes to help us come to this House, we were humble. We would even open extra access roads in the village and go to the grassroots to look for votes. ... view
  • 6 Nov 2013 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, for giving me this opportunity to contribute towards this important Motion about education. I want us to do a flash back when we first went to school; where we started and the challenges we faced. We should ask ourselves whether we are able to change or leave things the way they used to be. Early childhood education was left to the teachers and mosques. When you look at the environment surrounding such a learning facility, it does not promote quality education. It also demoralizes early learners. Early childhood education being the foundation stage of ... view
  • 6 Nov 2013 in Senate: Thank you, Madam Temporary Speaker, for giving me a chance to contribute to this very important Motion. For sure I want to say that this is a very important Motion although there are many challenges that we need to consider as we debate it. I will contribute to this Motion considering the fact that it is specific people who should be given firearms. I feel sorry whenever I see watchmen standing at different gates. I remember the issue of Westgate Mall where the guards at the door were shot while lying down. These are people who protect buildings worth billions ... view
