  • 25 Mar 2014 in Senate: I apologize, Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, and replace the word “making noise” with “consulting loudly.” view
  • 25 Mar 2014 in Senate: Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, my second reason on why I support this Motion is because education enables somebody to make informed decisions. We can see from what is happening today, we have middlemen who are using Kenyans because they do not understand the contents of the Constitution. They are riding on that; they are taking advantage to pass wrong information to Kenyans. I know that if these Kenyans are given that opportunity to go back to class, when the Government comes up with a policy that governs this adult education, they will understand the Constitution and make wise decisions. This ... view
  • 25 Mar 2014 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir. I want to thank the Mover of this Motion because of how critical this issue of insecurity is. There is an initiative called the Nyumba Kumi. We need to know its achievement. Is it really working? It is all about security in Kenya. The issue of being vigilant is for all of us; it is every Kenyans’ responsibility. We should not shift blame or politicize the issue of insecurity in this country because every Kenyan is now worried about what is happening. We are left to wonder; what next? Right now, we are focusing ... view

  • 19 Mar 2014 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, for giving me the opportunity to add my voice to this Motion. I strongly oppose this Motion with reasons. Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, the Government should have an alternative and more sustainable ways of helping senior citizens of this country, rather than having them confined in a centre, which is like discrimination to these Kenyan citizens. I oppose this Motion because is see it as a difficult programme to the Government. It will be so The electronic version of the Senate Hansard Report is for information purposes only. • 19 Mar 2014 in Senate: Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, I would like to inform Sen. (Dr.) Khalwale that that was at the back of my mind when I was declining to support the Motion. I was not declining to support the Motion per se, but I was against the centres for the aged because I know they will not help much. People should remain in their homes and get financial support and personal assistance. view

  • 18 Mar 2014 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, for allowing me to contribute to this Adjournment Motion moved by my friend, Sen. (Dr.) Zani. For sure, this is just a confirmation on how corruption is gaining more roots in this country. It shows that even Free Primary Education (FPE) is being mishandled because the beneficiaries are young Kenyans who cannot speak for themselves, or else they would have raised the issue. The management of the FPE is questionable. If you went to some other parts of this country you would wonder at the state of schools where FPE is being conducted. I ... view
  • 12 Mar 2014 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, for allowing me to contribute to this Motion. First and foremost, I want us to remind ourselves that the Bible says: “Be your brother’s keeper.” Our disciplined forces are our keepers. We must also be their keepers to accomplish the word of the God. The indecent lives of the disciplined forces in this country begin the day that these ladies and gentlemen go out for recruitment. The exercises are so vigorous. After they have secured an opportunity, the training itself is so hard and harsh. I know that every Kenyan citizen works very hard ... view
