  • 27 Apr 2016 in Senate: On a point of order, Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir. Is Sen. M. Kajwang' in order to refer to parties as jokers because they do not meet the threshold? view
  • 27 Apr 2016 in Senate: On a point of order, Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir. Is the Senator in order to suggest that it is only the ODM Party that has conducted elections yet the Wiper Party has officials who were elected through a very democratic process? The fact that they did not turn violent does not mean that they were not democratic. view
  • 27 Apr 2016 in Senate: On a point of order, Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir. I was elected like my able deputy, Sen. Sijeny, and the rest of us through a national delegates’ conference. The conference brought together all the Wiper Democratic Party delegates from across the country, constituting in excess of 3,500 of them at the Bomas of Kenya. Therefore, I think this is a serious omission. As I said, the fact that there are no altercations in others does not make those elections less democratic. view
  • 27 Apr 2016 in Senate: On a point of order, Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir. The fact that other people will, for instance, feel that they do not want to compete for a seat against Sen. Hassan and, therefore, you go for an election at a national delegates conference with a sole candidate is, in common logic, in itself, an election. It just simply means that nobody had the audacity to take you on. We want this recorded in the HANSARD. Let me tell you, those elections that my brother, Sen. Kajwang, is talking about were botched. They had to have a boardroom discussion on how ... view
  • 21 Apr 2016 in Senate: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, first, as a general note, there was a day I was travelling to Mombasa. I was seated next to a businessman and the plane to Mombasa left 30 minutes earlier. So, this man said, “the problem with Kenya Airways is that they never leave on time.” The moral of the story is that Sen. Murkomen should not say that he is punctual because he came here an hour earlier. Therefore, sometimes you could be too early or too late. However, that said and done, I commend the team and the leadership. When I saw Kindiki texting ... view
  • 21 Apr 2016 in Senate: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I am sorry. I meant Sen. (Prof.) Kindiki. Sen. (Prof.) Kindiki was in my campaign team when I first ran for office. So, Sen. (Prof.) Kindiki has only ever been on a campaign team of two people; mine when I was seeking the presidency of Moi University Students Organisation and hon. Uhuru Kenyatta’s when he was seeking the presidency of Kenya. view
  • 21 Apr 2016 in Senate: Therefore, I commend them for this extraordinary effort. Kenya is increasingly becoming a sporting power house. There are a few elements who have been trying to mess up our reputation. So, we need to deal with this effectively. This law demonstrates our commitment. We are the only African nation that is consistent. We win everywhere at the most opportune time. We do not dominate in one arena. We have expanded our horizons in several other arenas. Soon or later, sports will define part of Kenya’s international standing. Lastly, I watched that debate yesterday. In a Biblical way they say, “Forgive ... view
  • 21 Apr 2016 in Senate: Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, thank you for this opportunity. Let me seek further clarity because these days it has become a pre-occupation. Whenever anybody asks me for my number, the next thing they will do is call me and ask me to help them push for payment in the county government. I would like to clarify further --- view
  • 21 Apr 2016 in Senate: Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, I would like to seek further clarification from the Chairperson. I know there are especially small scale business persons who trade with Kshs1million or Kshs2 million, who have incurred massive losses as a result of non-payment by counties. Could the Chairperson clarify whether there will be mechanisms for reparations for those massive losses that have been incurred? In addition to that, he should clarify whether his Committee might be in a position to assist in that investigation that the Ministry is proposing so that we can recommend various actions, including possible The electronic version of the ... view
