  • 10 Mar 2016 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, regarding the petition concerning ECDEs, we appreciate that counties have invested in construction of classrooms for ECDEs but unfortunately, there are no standards. In my county now, every ward has two new classrooms. I have toured some wards where classrooms have been completed, but there are no desks and sanitary provisions. Regarding the issue of teachers, I think counties should be allowed to play some part in the recruitment of ECD teachers. I think that the teachers who have been there before--- view

  • 9 Mar 2016 in Senate: Thank you Madam Temporary Speaker. It is true that Kenyans are undergoing a lot of hardships to get this document which is their right. To become a citizen is a right and it is in the Constitution. An ID is just a confirmation and not what makes one a citizen. The problems that are experienced in Mandera and Wajir are also being experienced in Trans Nzoia. One reason is because of delays and the second is because there are certain communities in that county that are treated in a similar manner and yet they are Kenyans.   • 8 Mar 2016 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. Could the Chairman clarify whether the two roads from Makutano towards Sagana will be made a dual carriageway? Can he tell us the economic rationale for that? Which is the shorter one and which one is more economical in construction? Is it the one from Makutano direct to Sagana or the one detouring through Murang’a? An expert should be able to say it. view
  • 8 Mar 2016 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, for allowing me to contribute to this Bill which was brought here by my sister and Member of my delegation. She is also a cereals grower. The Constitution has largely devolved the function of agriculture. This Bill is meant to operationalize this devolved function. We need to devolve the role of the National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) to the counties. Cereals are important to the economy of any country.
