  • 25 Nov 2014 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. While we appreciate that the National Assembly has seen it now proper that the matter be referred to the Senate, I think that the purpose of going to court is for the court to give direction generally on how such matters will be handled for this and other Bills that will come in the future. We were not specifically following this particular Bill. We are looking at the future. So, I propose that we should proceed to the court. view
  • 25 Nov 2014 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. I support this proposal for the purpose of smooth operation of the House. Indeed, I agree with those who have said that sitting on that Chair is very involving, especially in view of the fact that we have so many Committees and some Members are Chairpersons of Committees. An additional Member would really help. The proposal of the name of Sen. Mositet is quite appropriate. In fact, at one time, he performed as a Temporary Speaker and he did his job well. Mr. Speaker, Sir, I support. view
  • 25 Nov 2014 in Senate: Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, on my own behalf, and on behalf of the people of Trans Nzoia, I join my colleagues in sending condolences to the families of those who lost their lifes in the tragic incident. I am saying so knowing that in Trans Nzoia County, we also lost a lady called Violet Moraa Morang’a from Taito Farm, Sitatunga Ward. Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, these events have become so many that every other day or week, we are seeking Motions of Adjournment to discuss issues of security. It is right that we discuss and express our concerns. Mr. Temporary ... view
  • 25 Nov 2014 in Senate: Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, of course it goes without saying that anybody arrested on account of terrorism is a suspect until proven guilty but if suspects on serious offences are just released anyhow, it becomes attractive for other criminals to operate in Kenya than elsewhere. I support. view

  • 20 Nov 2014 in Senate: On a point of order, Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir. Is it in order for the Chairman to say that the consignee should have come while the goods, perishable as they are, had overstayed before being warehoused? Immediately the goods arrived, they should have been kept safe. view

  • 20 Nov 2014 in Senate: Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, I want to inform the Senator that even in the unfortunate situation of the West Gate Mall, there were quite some impressive citizens who were civilians; KPRs. They were armed and they risked their lives to save others. One of them is the son of Sen. Yusuf Haji. He did quite a commendable job. view
  • 19 Nov 2014 in Senate: Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, on behalf of my family and the people of Trans Nzoia County, I wish to convey condolences to the family of the late Sen. Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, I also speak on behalf of the Immigration fraternity in this country, knowing that he served at one time as the Minister in charge of Immigration and Registration of Persons. I also served there as the Director of The electronic version ... view
  • 18 Nov 2014 in Senate: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I am willing to step in the place of Sen. G. G. Kariuki and second this Bill, which is very timely, especially in view of what we, as a country, today are experiencing, particularly in the rural areas. Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, it is good that the Act now recognizes the role of the police service. Any country that has good security arrangements has such an arrangement of police reservists. So, it is not a peculiar thing to Kenya, but something that is practised worldwide. The need for enhancing the services of the KPRs in our ... view
