  • 11 Aug 2009 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, the Ministry of Roads is a very key Ministry. It is one of the Ministries in charge of infrastructure in this country together with the Ministries of Energy, Transport and others. Therefore, if the Ministry of Roads succeeds in its mandate, then we are about to see development in our country. view
  • 11 Aug 2009 in National Assembly: If we want to achieve the development goals that we intend to achieve by 2030, then it is very important that this House supports the request by the Minister for Roads. In the past, the Government was not keen on developing the total infrastructure in the country. In the recent past, as from 2003, we have seen tremendous development of our road network. view
  • 11 Aug 2009 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, over the last seven years, wherever you travel in any part of our country, you will see a major road being done. Had this been the trend since Independence, I am sure we would be very far in terms of road development in this view

  • 11 Aug 2009 in National Assembly: Thank you, Madam Temporary Deputy Speaker, for this opportunity. I am responding on behalf of the Departmental Committee. We have had an opportunity to interact with the Minister and his staff. Therefore, we do not have many comments to make, but I would like to highlight a few things. From the outset, I would like to say that I support the Vote of the Ministry of Housing and make the following observations: One of the key concerns of the Ministry is to provide decent housing to all Kenyans. I think that has been a challenge, so far. I think it ... view
  • 6 Aug 2009 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, I want to speak on behalf of the chairman who is away. Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, I would like to start by saying that I support this Vote of the Ministry of Transport. I wish to thank the Minister and his able team in the Ministry. We have had very nice meetings with them. They were very interactive and useful. On the outset, I would like to say that the Ministry of Transport, along with the Ministry of Roads, the Ministry of Energy and others, fall in the category of infrastructure Ministries. If we ... view
  • 6 Aug 2009 in National Assembly: Thank you, Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, for this opportunity. As I said earlier, I would like to begin by saying once more this afternoon that this Ministry, together with the Ministry for Transport and the Ministry for Roads, Ministry of Energy and others fall in that class of infrastructure. It is a very important Ministry for the development of this country. view
  • 6 Aug 2009 in National Assembly: I would like to start by thanking the members of this Committee, starting with the Chairman who is out of the country and also members of this committee, some of whom are here and others who are committed elsewhere for doing a very good job. I laid the Report of this Committee on the Table of this House yesterday. I am sure in that Report, which I believe Members have, we have other detailed recommendations and observations. Therefore, I would not like to spend a lot of time repeating the same issues that we discussed with the Minister and the ... view

I wish to congratulate the Minister for the good work that she has done since she came to that office. The two Ministers of education have done a very commendable job. They are very dynamic. I am sure we are about to go a long way in terms of developing our education. view
