• 23 Feb 2016 in National Assembly: First, the coordination of the security agencies has gone a long way in ensuring that there is coherent response to attacks. I congratulate Hon. Nkaissery because he has instilled confidence in the security system. Kenyans will agree with me that before, we were treated to a charade of mishaps and there was a confidence crisis in our security apparatus. That coordination is critical. We have not seen agencies responding differently or competing to respond to emergencies as if they get any political mileage out of it. • 23 Feb 2016 in National Assembly: The final comment that I want to make with regard to this Report is the issue of corruption within our security apparatus. The challenge of corruption remains supreme. You can easily buy off security agents to do your bidding. A very good example, even if they are mere allegations, can be proved with the NYS saga, including the Banking Fraud Investigation Unit of the National Police Service. Going by such assertions, some officers were just on payroll of people who were doing the wrong things. This cartel-like behaviour has compromised our security.
