7 Nov 2013 in National Assembly:
I was consulting with the Member for Nyakach. I used to be a Chief Whip and I am used to gallivanting. Let me also congratulate the team sirkal. It has been a long wait for them. I said in your presence a few years ago that what this The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposesonly. country and Parliament need to do, and I tried to do it in the Finance Bill last year, is to ban corporates from sponsoring their own teams, so that they can sponsor community teams. We are a country of communities and the only way to go is to stop the Duwali’s, Bata Bullets and all those people gaining from tax exemptions, when they sponsor their own teams. That takes from our communities. I want to disagree with hon. Wanga that Gor Mahia FC is a Homa Bay team. In fact, the captain is from my village.

She is very wrong and you also need to tell your folks, the Member of Parliament for Embakasi, who has just said we will have a tea break. There is never tea break in Parliament. So he needs to learn a few things. I congratulate them and agree with what hon. Kamama has said. He used to support Bobby Ogola who is sitting in the Gallery. He was a good No.4. Congratulations! Thank you, hon. Speaker, Sir.

31 Oct 2013 in National Assembly:
Hon. Speaker, so that nobody thinks that the Committee is doing something un-procedural, there is need to clarify to the House and to the nation that the offence that the Cabinet Secretary is being accused of touches on constitutionality. Therefore, it goes without saying that this matter should get precedence over any other debate in this House. The land issue is the cause of 98 per cent of the problems in this country. Some of us are of the opinion that nobody should be above the National Land Commission (NLC). The NLC should have been left alone to handle land ...

31 Oct 2013 in National Assembly:
Thank you, hon. Speaker. I want to weigh in on this. First of all, let me say that I think I want to agree with hon. Duale and hon. Mbadi to the extent that they say that we need to know where the petition is. I think it is the right of the petitioners. I want to disagree a little bit with hon. Mbadi about the disbandment of this Commission because I think sometimes we have to talk the truth. The paralysis in the county assemblies is not because of money. Who are the Members of County Assemblies (MCAs) striking ...

31 Oct 2013 in National Assembly:
Hon. Speaker, I thought you were very clear in your explanation. The controversy that was raised by hon. Ali Wario in the last few days was that we seemed to be telling the court something. We were saying that the Government should not pay, against the wishes of the court, and we were very uncomfortable. My understanding of your explanation is that we are not telling the court what to do anymore. What we are saying is that, should NCPB win the case at the Court of Appeal, instead of this Report coming back to us, the people who have ...

31 Oct 2013 in National Assembly:
On a point of order, hon. Speaker, Sir. I am on a point of order to request that we be civil about this debate. I know you have been guiding us so kindly and so orderly. Is it in order for hon. Shidiye to say that he knows what has been happening in that Committee and, in fact, to impute improper motive on the Committee without substantiating. What is it that has been happening, so that we can know? We want to be told. For those of us who want to debate soberly, there are words being thrown around here ...

26 Sep 2013 in National Assembly:
Hon. Deputy Speaker, further to the Statement being sought by hon. Mbadi, I would like to add that the Committee investigates, on behalf of this House, the other changes being made in the Ministry of Lands without consultation with the PSC. Apart from this particular case of a gentleman who was pushed out of the Ministry of Lands for whatever reason, I want to know the changes that the Cabinet Secretary has been making arbitrarily, without consulting the PSC. The matter we are dealing with is of great importance. We want the Committee to further clarify to this House whether ...
