  • 25 Oct 2016 in National Assembly: I want you to listen. Relax. I was in Uganda recently. There is one thing which I have always said about women seats. In Uganda, a woman who represents an equivalent of a county in our sense earns more money than the single Member constituency. These are issues. Why is this issue not being raised amongst us? Why does Christine Ombaka who represents over 300,000 voters earn the same amount as Midiwo who represents 70,000 voters? That to me is not affirmative action. If Uganda can do it, we can do it. We must accept that this issue is not ... view
  • 25 Oct 2016 in National Assembly: Constitution. However, you must know that if we are talking about the one-third gender rule, it is not about women only but it is about men and women. Some of us want to begin advocating for the boy-child. If you do not want it to be a reason, we will reason it away from you. We want to support you. I am with you but for this I support the progressive method. I support. view
  • 13 Oct 2016 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. I rise to comment on this Petition. I know that former Members have and are really suffering. I know very many who are suffering. Recently, I was called by a former Member and his voice was sad. They think we are the only lot that can help them. Sometimes while sitting here, we behave as if we will stay here forever. If you talk to the majority of these Members, they will tell you that they will come back. Nobody puts himself in the 76 per cent bracket that is going home. It is natural and ... view
  • 12 Oct 2016 in National Assembly: On a point of order. Hon. Speaker. Hon. Lessonet is our representative. He chairs the NG-CDF Committee – the most important Fund where Members are involved. He cannot be in order to notify the House that they called a meeting and accepted a lower figure that is below the statutory figure. The NG-CDF is not less than 2.5 per cent of the Budget. The correct figure is not Kshs81 million. It is less than what Members got averagely last year by about 40 Million. He cannot be in order to purport to have negotiated a law or an agreement with ... view
  • 12 Oct 2016 in National Assembly: When we were doing the Bill, they told us that everybody would get an equal share. They even spoke about a figure of Kshs126 million. Many people have planned their projects based on Kshs126 million, which is 2.5 per cent. I request that the Chairman of the NG-CDF and the whole NG-CDF Committee be found not to be in order to purport to dupe Members and break the law. The Chairman should immediately explain to this House which rules were used to arrive at the new allocation. We know that the matter is in court but the aspect which is ... view
  • 4 Oct 2016 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker for allowing me to contribute on this Motion. The other day I met a friend who was flying on KQ from London. He had gone to buy a Business Class ticket from the KQ Office in London. He was told to come to Kenya and go back to London on Business Class, it cost about US$5,000. So, he went to KLM and bought the same ticket for below US$2,000. He was put on the same KQ flight to Nairobi. Something is definitely amiss. How I wish the truth about KQ could come out. I know it ... view
  • 4 Oct 2016 in National Assembly: Two minutes, Hon. Speaker. view
  • 4 Oct 2016 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, what is neater so that we can get to the bottom of this is a select committee. We should not throw words around. We need to know. The Embraer planes from Brazil are owned by non-Kenyans. How sad that the families of the people who took an oath on the Bible to never steal from us are stealing from Kenyans! We know them. You cannot peddle their names on the Floor of the House without evidence but we can do so in an investigation through a select committee, if you allow us. The electronic version of the Official ... view
  • 4 Oct 2016 in National Assembly: I want to ask the Leader of the Majority Party to set up a small select committee to help us find out because what happened is sad and it is the issue of Lafarge. view
  • 4 Oct 2016 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, the Departmental Committee on Transport, Public Works and Housing has been here for the last three years and yet KQ has been falling. Why do you keep insisting on committees? I am sure that if you go to the records of the Departmental Committee on Transport, Public Works and Housing, the issue of KQ has been there for over five years. That is why we need to investigate. Hon. Speaker, even if you will be the Chair of the Committee, we owe this to Kenyans so that we find out the truth. We also need to investigate the ... view
