  • 2 Jul 2008 in National Assembly: It is held so that a single company can buy and own all those shares. Kenyans are being held. I got this reliable information from at least three brokers. They are saying that something is wrong and that wrong thing is the hon. Minister for Finance and his buddy, the Governor of Central Bank of Kenya. We must stop impunity. view
  • 2 Jul 2008 in National Assembly: If you were to create confidence in the stock markets, you must tell people, you must create confidence. You must talk with one language as Government. We want to help the people of Kenya. The Government is not PNU, ODM or Grand Opposition. The Government is the representatives of the people of Kenya and they demand services from us. I think if we do not do this, we will never be forgiven. With those very many remarks, I beg to support. view
  • 2 Jul 2008 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. I have been trying to get your attention for a while now, because when Mr. Kimunya was contributing he said that Mr. Okemo, who is not in the House, is the one who knows about Mobitelea. I think it is not fair because the hon. Member is not here, and the Minister knows that this House has demanded over the last so many months that he explains that matter. As the Minister, he has the same responsibility, which Mr. Okemo had. That should be expunged from the records of this House. view
  • 1 Jul 2008 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir. I see on the Order Paper that Order No.7 is a Motion is by the same Minister. This Minister is behaving like a Mugabe. He is abusing fellow Ministers and has disrespected orders from the Committee on Finance, Planning and Trade, which I sit in, not to sale the Grand Regency Hotel. There are a lot of issues that have come up as to the value of the sale of the Grand Regency Hotel. Is it Kshs1.8 billion or Kshs2.9 billion? I want to request the Chair that it puts ... view
  • 26 Jun 2008 in National Assembly: On a point of order Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. What the Assistant Minister is saying is wrong. We are in a situation where planes are killing all Kenyans. No commercial plane, according to flying rules, should fly without a Captain and a First Officer. But this is happening all over Kenya. It would be wrong for the Assistant Minister to mislead us because we are in fear of being killed by rogue pilots and rogue commercial companies. view
  • 24 Jun 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I want to thank the Minister for promising that monies will be disbursed by Friday. But there is still a problem I want him to clarify. I am also happy because he has said that DDOs have been posted. But could he clarify the role of the DDO vis-a-viz the Constituency Fund Manager? I think some of the roles of the DDOs are creating unnecessary bottlenecks to the CDF. Could the Minister allow the Constituency Fund Manager, who is also a civil servant, to sign those vouchers as a final step before they go to the District ... view
  • 24 Jun 2008 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Madam Temporary Deputy Speaker. Did you see the new hon. Member just crossing the Floor as if he was fishing somewhere in Lake Victoria? May be he needs to learn some of these things! view
  • 24 Jun 2008 in National Assembly: Madam Temporary Deputy Speaker, I stand to support the Budget. I want to start by saying that this year's Budget, if implemented, would end up being the friendliest in my time in Parliament. I say so because I saw many things in the Budget that are friendly to the poor people. What I am not sure about is this Government's ability to realise that if it implements the Budget proposals as proposed, then our people would end up benefiting. The people who matter would end up benefiting more than any other time in the history of this country. I want ... view
  • 24 Jun 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, I want to talk about the Kshs1 million for the so- called Sports Fund. That money will go to waste if it is not utilised properly. It needs to come with a prescription. We need to organise youth academies and do it in an organised manner. It should not be money for charity. I think we are so used to giving money and expecting nothing that we, in this Coalition Government, need to change the way we think. We cannot do that if we are not allowed by this particular Ministry or the Government, to ... view
  • 14 May 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I rise to support this Motion of Adjournment and say a few things about it. I want to start by saying that I hope that the Executive, as it were, is taking note of what is happening here. I think the people who are opposing this Motion have something to take note of because these are extraordinary times in this country and we need to take note. It is my contention that the people opposing this Motion do not just want to be here. There are even a few who always just make technical appearances. I ... view
