  • 10 Jul 2014 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. First of all, I would like to congratulate my Chairman for that statement. As I congratulate him, I want him to take note of the fact that it has taken too long for the Government to come up with chemicals to eradicate this disease. There are chemical companies that provide and sell chemicals to farmers that we are not sure can cure this disease. It is important to note that the costs that farmers are incurring in terms of losses of production are high despite the fact that recently, the Cabinet Secretary, Agriculture, encouraged Kenyans ... view
  • 15 May 2014 in Senate: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I am also one of the Senators who have not spoken. I believe that it is important that we deliberate at the Committee Stage since time has really gone. view
  • 15 May 2014 in Senate: Mr. Chairman, Sir, I would like to make a small contribution touching on this particular amendment. Kshs10 billion is not so much, but it is not so little. I come from a county that has a Level 5 hospital. There is so much that the hospital does. Almost each and every Kenyan passes through my county and many accidents apparently happen in that area. As the Senator for Nakuru County, I would like to thank my Chairman and other Members of the Committee on Finance, Commerce and Budget for bringing in this amendment. I support. view
  • 15 May 2014 in Senate: Thank you so much, Mr. Chairman, Sir. With a lot of respect to Sen. Orengo, I am surprised that we seem to be going backwards, because this is a matter that we were discussing. We discussed it and we literally agreed that there is the Kshs226 billion and the Kshs10 billion; making it Kshs236 billion. It is, therefore, not very okay if we go backwards, unless we want to apparently come out of this House tomorrow morning. Mr. Chairman, Sir, look at the Constitution. It talks about 15 per cent being the amount that is supposed to be the least, ... view
  • 18 Mar 2014 in Senate: Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, I would like to take this opportunity to thank Sen. (Dr.) Zani for bringing this Motion of adjournment. It is very sad that we are in this House, but students in public universities are not learning. The question here is why and who is to blame. It has been said clearly here that it is the vice chancellors who are to blame. Why are they subjecting our students to this kind of frustrations? There is no way the lecturers can continue teaching if there is no pay. We know very well that the economy requires finance. ... view
  • 18 Mar 2014 in Senate: With those few remarks, I beg to support. view
  • 14 Feb 2014 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, Nakuru County delegation votes “yes” for “a”, yes for “b”, and yes for “c”. view

  • 26 Nov 2013 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir, for giving me this opportunity to contribute to this very important Bill that is going to change a lot in terms of operations of our counties. Mr. Speaker, Sir, this is the Bill that Kenyans were waiting for. This is because from the time that we were elected, we have faced a lot of questions from the electorate, concerning the development that is supposed to be happening in our counties. Many of them are indicating that whatever money that they are receiving is only enough to pay salaries. Some of the counties have even gone ... view
