In that regard, I would request that the Government takes the matter of the view
  • 3 Oct 2013 in Senate: plant very seriously because currently, I heard there are Chinese that are interested in buying meat from our country. It is from some of these areas where meat, especially goat meat, comes from. This meat is consumed in our towns and cities. It is important, therefore, that this matter is taken seriously in order to help communities living in these areas. Some areas have set aside money in their budgets focusing on the The electronic version of the Senate Hansard Report is for information purposes only. • 19 Sep 2013 in Senate: Thank you, Madam Temporary Speaker. I rise to support this Motion by Sen. (Prof.) Anyang’-Nyong’o. But as I support, I would like to request the Senator to ensure that some of the bodies that have been created by our Constitution, like the IEBC, are given the kind of respect they are supposed to be given. The reason I say this is because the Senator talked about the IEBC being disbanded; and that he would like it to be disbanded. I do not think that is in good taste in that a majority of Kenyans have confidence in the IEBC. We ... view
  • 17 Sep 2013 in Senate: Thank you, Madam Temporary Speaker, for giving me this opportunity to support the Motion by Sen. (Dr.) Zani. This is a very important Motion because it is going to put governors on their toes in the way that they are going to plan what is happening in the counties. It is worrying that up to this moment people on the ground are still hoping to see something tangible happening, but very little seems to be happening. When we talk about County Integrated Development Plans (CIDPs), yes, they are being carried out in various counties, but unfortunately, the level of involvement ... view
  • 23 Jul 2013 in Senate: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, thank you for giving me this opportunity to contribute to this very important Bill. This Bill is apparently overdue in that the counties are waiting for us to pass it so that they can get money. As I support, I would like to address some issues that touch on my county. Nakuru County is one of the counties with a deficit ofKshs1.2 billion. There are other counties that have a surplus of up to even Kshs6 billion. I find this to be inappropriate because there is no way we can run our 2013/2014 financial year with ... view
  • 16 Jul 2013 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, for giving me this opportunity. Today’s newspapers were talking about the Kenyan population growing at a rate that it is not going to be able to feed itself. Therefore, when Sen. (Dr.) Kittony brings a Motion like this one which calls for measures to be taken to protect our water The electronic version of the Senate Hansard Report is for information purposes only. • 2 Jul 2013 in Senate: Thank you Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir for giving me this opportunity to support the Motion which was moved by Sen. (Dr.) Machage. This Motion could not have come at a better time. We are already talking about a national crisis or a disaster. When our young nation is involved in drinking of illicit brews and taking drugs that are dangerous, then the future of our nation is at stake. • 26 Jun 2013 in Senate: Thank you very much, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, for giving me this opportunity to contribute to this very important Motion. I would like to thank the Mover of the Motion, Sen. Muthama. This Motion could not have come at a better time. Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, pollution is a very serious issue in our environment. Industries have, of course, contributed a lot to the mess. This is because of the chemicals from plastics and other pollutants that are emitted from them. I have had a chance to visit Athi River down in Thika. It is very shocking that, that river ... view

  • 20 Jun 2013 in Senate: On a point of order, Madam Temporary Speaker. Apparently I have heard Sen. Anyang’-Nyong’o very well talking about the cousins of whoever. I come from Nakuru County. I believe that each and every person in this country came from somewhere. I was born in Rift Valley and do not know any other place that I can call home apart from Rift Valley. So, if we start talking about that in this House, then some of us came from very far away. So, I would pray that the Senator refrains from that kind of talk. view
