  • 30 Aug 2018 in National Assembly: supposed to be involved here. I want to say that almost all those who are nominated are very able Kenyans who will add value to this Commission, once they are appointed. view
  • 30 Aug 2018 in National Assembly: I want to say sorry to the nominee whom we have stood down because she lacks the requisite qualification. I want her proponent to understand that this was not the Speaker’s invention or our wish. She carried the interest of the youth. We would have loved her but since we are lawmakers, we must preserve the law. I want them to understand, albeit with bitterness, that it is not our wish. We would have wished this young lady to be a member of this Commission. However, the law which we make and swore to protect says that she does not ... view
  • 30 Aug 2018 in National Assembly: We will support this list except the amendment which Hon. Keter will shortly float. The Chair of the Departmental Committee on Finance and National Planning is my neighbour back at home. When fire guts my house, he will come before the Member for Bondo arrives. So, he is my friend. The Committee has problems with Mr. Atwoli. I read it very loudly from the nominee that they were fighting. The reason which they advanced here or the excuse they gave us was circumlocutory. I never saw any serious reason like she is unable, uneducated or in jail. When we are ... view
  • 29 Aug 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you very much, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. The Standing Orders inhibits Members from casting aspersions against others. Hon. Sankok is a nominated Member who is disabled and does not have full use of his entire body is casting aspersions on an old Member. This is very bad. view
  • 28 Aug 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you very much, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I will be very brief in the interest of time. view
  • 28 Aug 2018 in National Assembly: I am glued to my Chair here because my main interest in this Bill today is to encourage the Government and alert them that good taxation must commensurate with service provision. I represent the interest of the sugarcane farmers and millers who were doing very well and paying their taxes. However, this changed the other day when the Jubilee Government brought sugarcane importers who masqueraded as millers in Asian skins. Sugarcane farmers and millers do not have roads and social amenities that should come with the tax that they pay to their good Government. Paying taxes is our right; kulipa ... view
  • 22 Aug 2018 in National Assembly: On a point of information, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. view
  • 22 Aug 2018 in National Assembly: With your permission, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, I wish to inform my good colleague from Siaya that this appointment, for the first time, is very balanced. Even her interest is well taken care of. Walter Ogony comes from Siaya. She has nothing to grumble over. view
  • 22 Aug 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. This is the time you know your friends and adversaries. I thank the Chair although I did not have the benefit of sitting here to influence him like my friend, Hon. Gikaria, did. This is something I wanted to contribute. The IPOA is one of the constitutional bodies that were formed and a lot of money has been expended on it by the Government, but people think it is Parliament that is gobbling it. The last body of my good friend, Macharia Njeru, did not live up to expectations of this country. Its purpose ... view
  • 22 Aug 2018 in National Assembly: We hope this new team will ensure that this is something of the past and the police force observes the law. view
