  • 27 Oct 2010 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir. Could the hon. Minister confirm to this House that the Minister in charge of Planning and National Development and Vision 2030 had, given higher data for the constituencies or districts around Lake Victoria? This is because all of a sudden, the global warming indicates that things are getting worse than they were before and that Lake Victoria is getting worse. Could he confirm that Nyanza or in the areas around Lake Victoria, lives have gotten better? view
  • 27 Oct 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, everything is not in order. I am saying so because the Minister is trying to tell us that the Government erred at that time by raising poverty index from 42 per cent to 67 per cent. What was the Government doing at that time? That is why I am asking him to admit that the Government actually erred. view
  • 27 Oct 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, what is not in order is the skirting around all the districts along Lake Victoria. Poverty index calculation is based on mathematical facts, and not just mere political issues. It is not a rocket design to--- view
  • 1 Sep 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I want to appreciate the work that the Ministry is doing in trying to eradicate malaria in our country by spraying insecticides to kill mosquitoes. I have noted recently in my constituency that there is army of people going from house to house killing mosquitoes. I have a lot of mosquitoes in my house, and they told me that I would still see mosquitoes because they were trying to kill anopheles mosquitoes. Could the Minister assure this House that the spray that they are using is actually killing anopheles mosquitoes and not the male mosquito? view
  • 1 Sep 2010 in National Assembly: Thank you, Madam Temporary Deputy Speaker, for giving me this opportunity. I would like to support this Motion, but I will be very brief. Education is at the bottom of my heart and in my constituency, it is priority number one. I want to ask the relevant Ministry to give HELB loans to all Kenyans who are seeking higher education, including those in technical schools and training institutes. I would like to see education being priority number one in this country, based on what I saw in Cuba. Education is a big investment for any particular country. Three-quarters of students ... view
  • 19 Aug 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I request the Assistant Minister to come up with a serious policy on human/wildlife conflict to cover all areas and not just particular areas like Tsavo and Voi. The policy should cover areas along the lake. We are inundated with hippos which destroy crops worth millions of shillings along the banks of Lake Victoria. view
  • 19 Aug 2010 in National Assembly: Thank you, Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir for giving me this chance to support this Motion. I want to congratulate Mr. Kimunya for having been appointed to this Ministry. Mr. Kimunya is a capable young man and very soon, we will see some “Kimunya Rules” being applied on our roads. I want to stand here and support the Motion. I want to talk about our airports. In 2002, our airports were supposed to have been upgraded to a certain level. However, all we found there were some plastic floors which did not equate to the amount of money spent. Today, ... view
