  • 22 Jun 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, the Assistant Minister has not answered the question. The information about the cheque does not indicate that it was cashed in the bank. Could the he produce evidence that the bank actually cashed the cheque? view
  • 22 Jun 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, mine will be very brief. I would like to support this Bill. I would like to talk about the issue of human trafficking via cyber crime such as Face Book, blogging or any of those high technologies which our people have now adopted to. Our people think that life is better abroad or somewhere else than in this country. So, our security personnel and the Ministry in charge of immigration should put in place measures that will ensure that people leaving the country--- If someone is suspected of being trafficked people out of this country, ... view
  • 16 Jun 2010 in National Assembly: Thank you, Mr. Temporary Deputy Chairman, Sir, for giving me the opportunity to also add my voice in supporting this Budget. I want to support the Budget because for the first time, we have gone past what we had expected to be the real Budget. In other words, the Minister has brought in some money that we had no idea that we had. Instead of leaving that money for misuse, that money will now be used for constructing roads and schools. I, therefore, really support him for doing that. view
  • 14 Apr 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, I stand here to support the Motion. view
  • 14 Apr 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, I want to say what I personally need to see in the Budget. I come from a very poor part of this country. When I became the Member of Parliament, I immediately released the poverty which exists in my constituency is due to lack of education. I will, therefore, endeavour during my tenure in Parliament to ensure my people get education. Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, I would like to see that our pupils get appropriate education or tools which they can use when they graduate. This cannot be done by nothing other than fully ... view
  • 13 Apr 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, could the Assistant Minister assure this House that all transformers in Matuu are grounded to the extent that lightening does not cause outage again? From what he is talking about, it is nothing short of the ground wire which is supposed to stop lightening from disabling the transformer. view
  • 13 Apr 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, all I am saying that the Assistant Minister should ask the area engineer to ensure that the ground wire is connected to the ground to stop lightening from damaging the transformer. What happens is that thieves steal the ground wire leaving the transformer floating without the ground wire to arrest lightening. Could he ensure that in the future, these things are inspected and engineers make sure that ground wires are not cut by thieves? view
  • 8 Apr 2010 in National Assembly: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. We have noticed that most of the schools in the rural setting did not do very well in national examinations. In particular, in certain districts, you could not get a student with Grade “A”. I would like to ask the Minister what steps he is taking to make sure that in every school, each class has a teacher plus one more teacher, especially in the rural setting where teachers fall sick inadvertently? This is a very serious issue. Therefore, I would like him to tell the House what steps he is taking to make sure ... view
  • 1 Apr 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I have noted that with regard to derogation under the Bill of Rights, my concerns can be legislated later on. I, therefore, wish to withdraw the proposed amendment. I also note that all hon. Members have noted my concerns. I am a statesman. view
  • 31 Mar 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, could the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance tell this House whether he is withdrawing his earlier statement of rolling out this expenditure into the next financial year? view
