  • 3 Dec 2014 in National Assembly: No, I heard him say that hon. Mudavadi does not deserve pension because he has not retired. I think he is misleading the House. • 19 Nov 2014 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Speaker. I take this opportunity on behalf of my family and the great people of Awendo to send my condolences to the family of the late Senator Kajwang’, the people of Homa Bay County and all Kenyans. Senator Kajwang’ was a great man and a man of humour who loved politics for what it is. He did not hold any grudge against anybody. You would differ in opinion but you would still remain friends. May the Almighty God rest his soul in eternal peace. view
  • 18 Nov 2014 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker for this opportunity. First, I want to say that I support this Motion. We realise that TSC is the largest constitutional commission. Therefore, to have it operate for a year, one year and a half or two years without a substantive chairperson is a disservice to that Commission. So, the nomination and subsequent appointment of Dr. Lydia Nzomo has been long in coming. It has been some time. The lady has faced a lot of challenges and I think going forward and in future, this House will have to review how to relate with ... view
  • 18 Nov 2014 in National Assembly: 28 Tuesday 18th November, 2014 comes to the seat, she will come up with innovative ways of making sure that the chronic shortage of staff in schools becomes a thing of the past. We are talking as a country of Vision 2030. The country must therefore be alive to the fact that without proper remuneration of teachers, proper motivation to work so that we have an educated population, we will never see Vision 2030. Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, I feel that the President and other appointing organs of this country should move with speed to appoint the rest of the ... view
  • 18 Nov 2014 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, hon. Mpuru Aburi is extremely excited in the House and I believe you can protect me from him so that I can finish my contribution. Since the social media and the mainstream media are awash with politics of moles, I think all the moles in this House as well as the Minority Party and the Majority Party will join our hands to vote as a block to ensure that Dr. Lydia Nzomo becomes the Chairperson of TSC. Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. view
  • 29 Oct 2014 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. Looking at the way the member States have moved towards formation of a monetary union, I think we have been a little bit slow in this. It is important that the East African region benefits from its own market. When we have free movement of people and goods, we should be able to provide adequate market. In fact, we will provide adequate local market for our goods and services and, therefore, grow our region by leaps and bounds. I think it is the direction that we need to move as a region. The electronic ... view
  • 22 Oct 2014 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Speaker. I rise to support this Motion. From the outset, I want to say that this Motion was long in coming. I think that if and when this House makes a resolution, it should be followed to ensure that something is done. You realize that for the last few years technology has advanced. Even the need for increased speed in doing business is also there. That is why sometimes a businessperson who wants to do business between Kisumu and Nairobi would prefer to travel by air rather than by road. This is because they want to ... view
  • 22 Oct 2014 in National Assembly: fair to mistreat Members of Parliament. In fact, any other passenger should not be mistreated because people have a right to proper treatment at those points. view
  • 22 Oct 2014 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, recently, we were again travelling to Mombasa with another colleague of my same Committee. We went through a similar treatment and I think this is because of monopoly. The Government must do everything it takes to free the air transport in this country so that a lot of other players who have expressed interest can be given a chance to do business so that there is a fair degree of competition and, therefore, anyone can chose which airline to use without undue restriction. That will reduce the incidences where staffers of Kenya Airways mistreat passengers. view
  • 22 Oct 2014 in National Assembly: The Kenya Airways introduced another service called Jambo Jet and it was touted as being the cheaper option for travel. If you happen to delay and you miss your flight, I tell you that ticket becomes obsolete. You cannot get a refund or get rescheduled. I think that is draconian; that is undemocratic and it is not the way to handle clients. view
