  • 10 Dec 2008 in National Assembly: , asked the Minister of State for Provincial Administration and Internal Security:- (a) whether he is aware that there is an escalation of insecurity in Ndaragwa Constituency, particularly along the Ndaragwa-Nyeri Road; and, (b) what measures the Government is taking to curb the insecurity. view
  • 10 Dec 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I would like to know when that task force was appointed, and which other areas it is considering. In my constituency, we have a similar situation where half of the constituency falls under an arid area and teachers there are not receiving an hardship allowance. view
  • 10 Dec 2008 in National Assembly: asked the Minister of State for Special Programmes:- (a) how many people have so far been resettled from each of the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camps countrywide; (b) whether she could state how many IDPs, by name, location and amount, have received resettlement kits and/or money; and, (c) what medium the Government is using to distribute the resettlement kits, money and foodstuffs to the IDPs. view
  • 10 Dec 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I want to thank the Minister for the comprehensive answer. I will have time to look at the register and, perhaps, come back through another route. For now, could I ask the Minister to inform this House at what cost were the iron sheets, timber and nails 4022 PARLIAMENTARY DEBATES December 10, 2008 bought for the 962 IDPs within Trans Nzoia East District. view
  • 10 Dec 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, let me go back to the answer that I was given. The Government entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with the Cooperative Bank. Given that the Government has administrators in every corner in this country, at what cost did she find it necessary to engage a financial institution to do this work that could have been done fairly well by the administrators? view
  • 3 Dec 2008 in National Assembly: asked the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Local Government:- (a) whether he could confirm the permitted weight for a bag of potatoes allowed into the municipal market; (b) whether he could state if the weight has been gazetted and explain what action will be taken against officers who flout this rule; and, (c) what measures the Ministry is putting in place to ensure that the rule is similarly enforced in all the potato growing areas in the country. view
  • 3 Dec 2008 in National Assembly: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. The Assistant Minister has stated the obvious. However, I thank him all the same. Could he confirm whether to date, there is any officer who has been convicted for contravening this particular order he has told us about and whether he is aware of such a contravention? • 3 Dec 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I have a receipt that was issued by the Nairobi City Council for a bag that was weighing more than 110 kilogrammes. The bag was actually weighing 220 kilogrammes. This is the same legal entity that is supposed to enforce the same order that the Assistant Minister has mentioned. Could we get a clarification from him as to whether these rules are meant for all the local authorities or just particular ones? This receipt came from the Nairobi City Council and I can table it as evidence. view
  • 3 Dec 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, the Assistant Minister has not even seen the receipt. He is answering from his own imagination and misleading this House. This receipt shows that one bag was receipted as two. That is what we are complaining about in my constituency because it is pure exploitation of farmers. That answer is not helping the poor farmer in my constituency. view
  • 3 Dec 2008 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Speaker, Sir. view
