  • 11 Nov 2014 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for giving me this opportunity to add my voice to the Water Bill, National Assembly Bill No. 8 of 2014, as presented to the House for the Second Reading. I lost my voice this weekend trying to answer questions by the women of Kibwezi Constituency, Makueni County where there is no water. The question was: With this Government, where is water? The problem of Kibwezi Constituency, Makueni County, is water. Number two problem is water. Number three problem is water. Number four, five up to infinity is water. Article 43(1) (d) of the Constitution ... view
  • 11 Nov 2014 in National Assembly: Affordability is very important. We have many cartels. When I used to give water to your constituency especially Mathare, I remember the people of Mathare and Kibera; we used to talk about safety of water and sanitation. In Mathare Constituency like you very well said, we lack sanitation and this leads to poor health. I am not contributing for the people of Mathare but I am a national figure. But majorly I am talking about Kibwezi where people walk four to five kilometres; they wake up in the morning and you see donkeys criss-crossing everywhere. Women carry their babies on ... view
  • 11 Nov 2014 in National Assembly: water kiosks on the way and of course many jerrycans; countless 20 litre jerrycans. They queue as if they are going for manna from heaven. Accessibility is also very important. I will be the first one to bring an amendment to this Bill so that we can have accessibility and affordability for the people of this country. Sanitation should be taken care of. When you look at most of our people who stay in the slums, there is lack of sanitation and a lot of health issues arise. When you go to Kibera, it is an alarming issue because of ... view
  • 29 Oct 2014 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker for giving me this opportunity to contribute to the Motion by my good friend with whom we taught at the university, hon. Chris Wamalwa. I rise to support. Having taught at the university, I can say I know the meaning and importance of education. I also know what it means to brand or name an institution after a hero for people of this country to remember. Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, having read and listened to the biography of Kijana Wamalwa--- I remember when my good friend, hon. Wamalwa presented this Motion, I told him ... view
  • 29 Oct 2014 in National Assembly: as very important persons who have really contributed in the sector of education. It has reminded me that even being a university lecturer, or a politician, you can be remembered because of your good work. I also want to urge the Members that whatever we do in our constituencies and in our country, we should be named and remain heroes of this country. Upgrading the institute to a university, and with devolution, I think this will be very great work for the people of Kitale. They will remember their son who did very well. Kijana Wamalwa was not selfish. Hon. ... view
  • 28 Oct 2014 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairman, I support the proposed amendment by hon. (Ms.) Abdalla especially on revenue sharing; the royalties as per sub- clause 5(c), 10 per cent to the community where the mining operations occur. This has great meaning to the community in the area where mining is and to make sure that it benefits that community. Together with the 20 per cent of the County Governments, at least they can get something. Very important to the community is the 10 per cent. view
  • 23 Oct 2014 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Wambui. That is well spoken. Hon. Member for Kathiani, Robert Mbui. view
  • 13 Aug 2014 in National Assembly: As I support the Bill, I would like to seek your indulgence on the intention of the Mover, hon. Kaluma, pursuant to Standing Order No.90. He has not declared his interest. Does he have interest in all the children? He should declare interest. view
