there, there is nothing that has been done. That is over six years now. The losses that this country continues to incur over those kinds of projects is unacceptable. One of the things that you find is that there are those people who place people in certain positions of power in parastatals or appointments in boards with the intention of making use of them. They then deliver the stolen funds from those parastatals. My plea is that, as we go forward, those reports should be taken seriously and the implementation be done to make sure that for those people who ...

Thank you, hon. Speaker. I take this opportunity to send my condolences to the family of Senator Kajwang’, the people of Homa Bay and Mbita and particularly to our friend, hon. T. J. Kajwang’. I want to remember him from the words he used yesterday when he visited Kiambu County. He said that he had visited Kikuyu to sort out a small problem and that small problem is over. For us, the people of Limuru and Kiambu County, we will miss him and may his soul rest in peace.

Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I rise to support this Bill and I want to congratulate the Departmental Committee on Health for having looked at the important issues that are relevant to streamlining this profession. As we go forward, it is important that we must remember that we are a sporting nation and our youths in schools encounter injuries. It will be important for them to be addressed by people who are professionally qualified. In the rural areas, it is very difficult to access qualified people to do physiotherapy. In line with what we have discussed, it is my ...

Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, let me be on record that I rise to oppose this Motion. I feel that with all due respect to the Mover, the hon. Member is ill informed of the technology that is behind the nuclear power production on matters of safety. For this reason, I believe as far as this country is concerned and in this continent, Africa, there are some people somewhere who believe that an African has not come of age to take care of nuclear technology. We saw it in South Africa when the country became independent. There are some ...

telling us that our people and our young people cannot study Physics and that they have no future for Chemistry application, it is a person who has no vision for our country. So, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, I rise to say that it is fair for us to explore all opportunities that are there and are being explored by other countries that we are competing with in terms of the world’s economic development. If we are going to develop power that is going to be expensive such that when you manufacture things in this country they cannot compete with those ...

Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for giving me this opportunity to support this Motion. First, it has been a time for learning and gaining experience, particularly in this House. It is about time we took a break to, particularly, go back to our constituencies and address matters under the CDF, Uwezo Fund and all the other resources that the Government has provided.

We have challenges in this country of insecurity, unemployment, alcoholism and food insecurity. These are issues that are of high priority. As leaders of this nation, and as people who care about the future of this nation, it is time we addressed these issues.

My colleagues have aired their positions on the referendum. I believe that a referendum will come, but I do not think it is a priority today. When I look at my constituents, their biggest problem is to put food on the table, worrying about insecurity, road accidents and the bad infrastructural services that we receive. If we can deal with these very pressing issues, this country will, at some stage in future, undertake a referendum, or bring debate on it this House. The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposesonly. A certified version of this Report ...
