  • 5 Oct 2016 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for giving me an opportunity to air my views. I would, first, like to support the 20th Report of the PIC. I want to note that the 64 State corporations mentioned in this Report are very important. They cover a number of areas, including agriculture, universities and middle-level college, education, medicine, power generation, infrastructure and regulatory bodies. As my colleagues have mentioned, these parastatals were created to provide services to Kenyans in a manner that they can deliver quality services. Kenya has demonstrated over the years that she has people who can run businesses ... view
  • 5 Oct 2016 in National Assembly: very important for people to take this Report and other reports that have been done by the PIC very seriously. Even this House should take them seriously so that the many hours that have been spent interviewing people can be of benefit to this country. We also call upon the various arms of Government like the EACC, DPP and DCI to do their job. There is a lot that this Committee can do. They should pick the things that we have unearthed in this Report and play their part because if we do not do that, I do not think ... view
  • 24 Aug 2016 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker for giving me an opportunity to add my voice to this very important Bill. This Bill is very timely. We are living at a time when there are a lot challenges in university education in this country. As engineers, some of us have had a time to reflect and even go back to the colleges that we went through, like the University of Nairobi, to look at the accommodation and laboratories that our students currently use. We found out that, as much as this country is moving ahead, we have forgotten to invest enough in ... view

  • 24 Aug 2016 in National Assembly: The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposesonly. A certified version of this Report can be obtained from the Hansard Editor. view
  • 24 Aug 2016 in National Assembly: Hon. Deputy Speaker, for universities to succeed in quality teaching, they require technicians who are well-trained. Over the years, we have killed some of those very important institutions and converted them to universities. In a serious country that needs to grow, we must remember that we require all skills so that we can move ahead. There is one bigger problem. In Nairobi, we have brought some colleges to Koinange Street. If you take a young person from high school to a university along Koinange Street, what culture are you instilling in this young one? Universities that are established outside Nairobi ... view
  • 2 Aug 2016 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I rise to support the Report of the Committee on the Forest Conservation and Management Bill. This is a very important Bill. It gives us hope for the future generation and for us to manage our forests properly. It is a very important resource that we have, which has been mismanaged over time. Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, if you go round the country, you will see the depleted forest cover which has given us a challenge in our water resource and the use of trees as an engineering material to build this country. I ... view
  • 2 Aug 2016 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I stand to support the ratification of this bilateral agreement on air transport. The two countries we are discussing here, Vietnam and Liberia, have had some very difficult history. Remember the case of Vietnam War and the civil war of Liberia. We are happy that these countries have since stabilized and moved on. Therefore, as a country, it is important for us to have this bilateral agreement particularly covering air transport. view
  • 2 Aug 2016 in National Assembly: As you know, Vietnam has started growing and is doing well. Even countries that used to have problems with that nation like the United States of America (USA), have already ratified several bilateral agreements with them. As a county, it is important that we have this bilateral agreement because it will help us to expand our air business and open up more business in non-traditional routes, which will be good for Kenya. The challenges that KQ has been having is a concern to all of us. I believe it is giving KQ the opportunity to have more options of flying ... view
