Mr. Speaker, Sir, the company deals with a chain of hotels. Before the collapse of the charter business, it had charter business and cruise ship which they used to operate in 2007. For now, according to information in our possession, that business has collapsed. Therefore, the company is not engaged in that business, except the chain of hotels. As far as workers are concerned, the company employs 800 workers. However, I am yet to ascertain how many are outside this country.

On a point of order, Mr. Speaker, Sir. I stand to call the House to get some respect over this matter. This is a matter that calls all of us to respect each other. This matter has been treated with a lot of arrogance. When we talk of consultation, if we really want to take this Constitution in a smoother manner, it is all key players to consult. Nobody has consulted us as Ford-Kenya.

Mr. Speaker, Sir, I beg to reply. (a) It is true that Mr. Julius Kazungu was involved in a fatal road accident while in employment of Messrs Wells Fargo Limited. The accident was reported to my Ministry in accordance with the repealed Workmanâs Compensation Act, Cap.236 Laws of Kenya. My Ministry made a claim of Kshs240,000 from the employer being the workmansâ compensation. (b)The balance of Kshs100,000 was paid to the District Commissioner, Mombasa through my Ministryâs Cheque No. 103812 dated 24th April, 2007.
