  • 15 Jul 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, my intention of asking this Question was that I wanted to know where farmers in Migori should go to get their loans. I do not believe that it is only Equity Bank that is intended to come to Migori, apart from the AFC. In answering part "c" the Assistant Minister has stated that there are some SACCOs. I think if there are SACCOs which are lending money to farmers, the Assistant Minister should specify which ones. view
  • 15 Jul 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I want to thank the Assistant Minister for his attempts to answer this Question. But there is one part which is worrying me. In his answer to part "d" of my Question, he says that there are plans to give Kshs3.2 billion to Equity Bank. That is a large amount of money which will not be spent overnight. Mr. Speaker, Sir, it will take time before this money is given to the farmers. Could the Assistant Minister inform the House what steps and modalities his Ministry is putting in place to ensure that the interest that will ... view
  • 19 Jun 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, thank you very much for giving me the opportunity to contribute on the Budget Speech. As it has been mentioned, my names are Mr. Dache John Pesa, the Member of Parliament for Migori Constituency. Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, I want to say that the Minister must have done a lot of work to come up with this particular Budget which apparently takes care of what Kenyans are aspiring to and expecting. Early this year we experienced a state of anarchy; where we saw Kenyans set fire on each other, a situation that many of ... view
  • 14 May 2008 in National Assembly: Thank you, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, for giving me time to air my views on this particular Motion. I stand here to oppose it because I am not convinced by the reasons we have been given to adjourn this House. Judging from the mood of the people who elected us, I think we have been home too often. We have a duty to perform in this House. Going home again for another one month is not going to be very good for Kenyans who elected us. When we talk about tradition, we should be specific. When we say that we ... view

  • 19 Mar 2008 in National Assembly: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir, for giving me this chance to give my maiden speech in this House. This is my first time to be elected to Parliament. I want to thank the people of Migori for electing me to join other Kenyans in the Tenth Parliament for the purpose of developing both Migori and Kenya as a united nation. I also want to join other Members in thanking you for your election sometime back. I want to register that most of us who are here have really appreciated the way you have guided this House so far. We wish ... view
  • 19 Mar 2008 in National Assembly: Is it me who should leave this House and go and hunt for the security man, so that I may feel secure? I think that is something that this House and this Government--- If you are going to talk about carrying out our duties as Kenyans, let us be mindful of others. Maybe, a few Members have got their security. But I think that many of the new Members are complaining. I am sorry to use that word. They have not been given their security detail. Mr. Speaker, Sir, with those few remarks, I beg to support. view
