Thank you, Hon. Temporary Speaker, for also giving me a chance to support this Motion on the Consideration of Nominees for Appointment as Members of the National Climate Change Council. This country has been affected and changed by climate change. As we cry about climate change every day, when you fly up there in the plane, you see people cutting trees and burning charcoal. Action should be taken against the forest officers. They are the ones who are causing those big problems. Climate change is a very serious issue in this country and the world as a whole. Many areas, ...

Thank you, Hon. Temporary Speaker for giving me time to contribute to this very important Motion. I thank Hon. Beatrice Elachi for bringing this Motion. It is timely and very important. Our country has a lot of potential if only we loved it the way we love ourselves. Most of us Kenyans do not love our country like people in other countries. I have been to the USA, the Americans put their country first. We need to borrow that so that we can build our economy. What Hon. Elachi has brought, for example, the EPZ used to be there those ...

Thank you, Hon. Temporary Speaker for giving me time to also contribute to this important Motion. I thank Hon. Nzambia for coming up with this Motion. I urge all the Members of this House to support it. It touches on all 47 counties and the 290 constituencies which we represent. The elderly are important to us. They are our parents and grandparents. They need our help and support as their children and grandchildren. Sometimes, the Government delays to disburse the money to the elderly. As a House, we make laws and deal with the Budget. We need to increase their ...

From the time 800 older persons were registered seven years ago, many people have aged. We need to pass a law that allows registration of up to 4 million older persons. In every constituency and the wards that we come from there are many older persons who have not been registered and yet they have reached 70 years. We need to revise that age from 70 years to 65 years and help them when they are alive, and not talk about them when they are dead. Registration should be enhanced so that they are captured. The Government should provide them ...

When older persons are at home, they need all kinds of support. Some of them are more than 100 years old and are supposed to have facilities to help them like wheelchairs. So, as a House, we need to pass a law that will govern these persons and take care of them. There is a lady Member who came to ask me to donate my time to her. So, because of time, I support this Motion and urge Members to pass this Motion. Thank you. The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposesonly. A certified version ...

Thank you Hon. Temporary Speaker, for giving me a chance to also contribute, although there is not much time. The President of this country meant well on the four issues he wrote to the Speaker of the National Assembly for us to discuss. On NG-CDF, we get a little money for our constituencies, including you Hon. Temporary Speaker. This is about Ksh131 million compared with my county governor who gets Ksh12 billion. This is incomparable and like day and night. The work done in counties is quite different; maybe one project in a year. While you can get more than ...

Hon. Temporary Speaker, the Senate should be given enough money for oversight. We want the Senate to oversee this money and see where it goes to, what it does from the counties because all the billions are stashed somewhere and yet the money is not seen. The other one is about women of this country. Girls should be allocated money. Our female Members are equally like us. Their money should not be delaying the way it has been. They should be given money. We want to see what they are also doing with their money because they have cried for ...

Hon. Temporary Speaker, we need to be very careful with the Constitution. You have been here with me for three terms. Remember in the 11th and 12th Parliament, we passed very bad laws. The first was the Security Laws (Amendment) Bill and the other one was the Finance Bill. It came from the retired President. Later on, we have seen and blamed ourselves that the laws we passed at that time were not good. Our President has requested us to amend and insert. It is a test to us as Members of Parliament to go through those requests. If there ...

Thank you, Hon. Temporary Speaker, for giving me a chance to also speak. I have been away for a very long time, but I am now back. I thank the Members who stood with me during that bad time. Land is very important to this country. We live because of food and water. Many people in this country are starving because of where they live, like our brothers and sisters in Turkana and North Eastern. There are no rains there. I concur with Hon. Mbadi’s contribution. There are people in this country who own thousands of acres of land. There ...

Thank you, Hon. Temporary Speaker. I am back after having been away for a very long time. I want to speak about the NG-CDF because it is the most cost-effective Fund. It has changed the lives of children from poor families because they could not afford to go to school. As we speak right now, there is a problem of hunger in Turkana. The NG-CDF has managed to take children to school despite the many problems.
